After 2 and a half years of continuous effort and self-development, Nguyen Bao Hung (22 years old), residing in Tam Binh Ward, Thu Duc City (HCMC) became the valedictorian of the whole school.

Want to learn to open up a bright path

Bao Hung was born in Di Linh District (Lam Dong Province). Because his family was a farmer, he had to repeatedly find suitable land to grow industrial crops, so since he was young, Hung moved continuously to Dak Nong Province. In 2019, Hung passed the entrance exam to Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport but could not continue his studies due to his family's difficult circumstances.

"At that time, my parents could not pay off the debt after buying the farmland, so it was very difficult. When they found out that I passed the university entrance exam, the family planned to borrow more money, but I did not want that," Bao Hung shared.

Putting aside his dream of going to university, Hung went to work as a warehouse worker at a company providing cooking services for hospitals in Go Vap District (HCMC). After working for a year, this male student realized that he needed to continue studying to open up a brighter path.

"My income at that time was 8 million VND/month, many people also advised me to drop out of school to work because even if I tried hard, I would still be unemployed after graduating. But with knowledge only at high school level, it was not enough, so I wanted to continue studying to find a better job instead of staying in the same place," Hung said.

Hung continued to work to save money to enroll in college. In October 2021, this male student quit his job to focus entirely on studying logistics. "This is a major with many job opportunities. The knowledge is also very close to previous work experiences, so it gives me a lot of motivation to pursue it," Hung expressed.

During the 4 semesters, Hung always received scholarships with scores always above 9. Especially in the most recent semester, this male student achieved an average score of 9.48 with a perfect training score of 100 and became the valedictorian of the entire school for the 2020-2023 school year. In addition, Hung is also the champion of the contest "Talented and Elegant TDC Student Ambassador 2022" organized by Thu Duc College of Technology (HCMC).

Income of 15 million VND/month even though not graduated yet

Talking about his admirable study secret, Hung expressed that he used to be a bad student, but after starting a job and realizing that studying is happiness, he set rules for himself.

With his height and appearance, Hung (right) also works as a model.

"I read the lessons at home in advance, then concentrate in class and force myself to understand after the lecture ends, otherwise I have to ask the teacher again immediately. To remember, I study using the spaced repetition method, every 20 minutes, half a day or a week I will read that part of the knowledge again to remember it forever," Hung said.

Sharing about this male student, Master Dang Thi Uyen Phuong, lecturer of the Faculty of Business Administration, Thu Duc College of Technology (HCMC), expressed: "Hung is a very excellent student, active, eager to learn and often asks questions to the lecturers to the point that the whole class "complains" because he speaks too much. Hung has invested and allocated well between studying and part-time work to achieve his goals, so I rate him very highly."

Hung wants to prove that his choice to pursue his studies was the right one.

With the advantage of height and appearance, Hung received many job opportunities as a model and running projects for large organizations and businesses. On average, Hung participated in events from 5 to 20 days per month, with an income of 15 million VND/month even though he had not graduated yet.

However, when talking about his plans, Hung said he will not pursue modeling even though it brings a stable income and opens up many new opportunities. This male student believes that his achievements over the past 2 years are nothing compared to many young people, so he is still working hard every day.

"After graduating, I will find a job related to my major in import-export to gain more knowledge and continue my university dream. Once I have work experience, when I transfer to university, I will find more promotion opportunities," Hung said.
