Receiving the notice of direct admission to 6 top universities in the country, male student Do Nam Khanh (born in 2006), a former student of Phan Dinh Phung High School (Ha Tinh City) was extremely happy. That was the sweet result for the special student's efforts to excel in studying. Khanh was directly admitted to 6 universities by considering his transcript and direct admission: University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU); University of Education 1; Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology... Male student Do Nam Khanh is the son of a visually impaired mother, Nguyen Thi Thanh Tinh (born in 1985). Born without the love of a father, his mother raised male student Do Nam Khanh alone. "Since childhood, Khanh's eyesight was poor, he could not see clearly. Relatives took him to many hospitals for treatment, but there were still no results. By the 6th grade, Khanh completely lost his eyesight, his eyes could only distinguish day and night. Both mother and daughter are blind due to the effects of Agent Orange from their grandfather. Knowing that her son is sad, her mother always encourages him to try harder,” Ms. Tinh confided.

Since losing the light from his eyes, the male student's life has been groping in the dark. Khanh had to get used to everything, starting with holding the objects around her... "When I first found out I had lost my vision, I felt tired and pressured. I collapsed and cried a lot. But I was the only one my mother could rely on, so I thought I had to overcome my situation. At first, I didn't dare to touch the ground to walk, but then I practiced singing, learned Braille and began to redefine my life goals," Khanh said. During 12 years of high school, Khanh was always accompanied by her mother and grandmother. Her mother is a visually impaired woman, only able to see objects at close range, but throughout the entire learning process, Ms. Tinh always cycled Khanh to class regularly. Khanh said that after class, her grandmother would help her read the lessons in the textbook. "When I went to class, I focused on listening to the lecture, because I couldn't take notes, so I received a lot of support from the teachers and friends. Everyone always gave me special love and care. With his efforts to study, Khanh has achieved sweet results with 12 consecutive years of being an excellent student. In addition, he was honored to receive many awards such as winning 3rd prize in the "Sowing seeds of the soul" contest; winning 2nd prize in the "Go with you" contest organized by the Vietnam Network of the Blind in Hanoi. In 2023, he was one of 10 students recognized by the Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union and the Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training as students who overcame difficulties... Also in 2023, Khanh was the youngest delegate, 1 of 21 outstanding individuals in the province to receive a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding achievements in studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh. In 2024, he was admitted to the Party while he was a student at Phan Dinh Phung High School... Sharing about his planned major after being directly admitted to 6 universities, male student Do Nam Khanh said that he will study Social Work at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU) to fulfill his dream. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tinh, Nam Khanh's mother, shared: "I will soon take my child to Hanoi to enroll. I am asking everyone to connect me to find a place to stay for my child.
