Nguyen Minh Chau, a second-year student in the Information Technology department at Dong A University, unfortunately passed away due to a serious illness at the age of 20.

The male student was awarded an honorary engineering degree by the school's leadership for his contributions, efforts and inspirational stories over the past time.

Nguyen Minh Chau, from Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh, has had cerebral palsy since he was 15 years old. His body is smaller than his peers, his legs cannot move, and his hands are not flexible. Chau and his family moved to Da Nang to live since 2016.

Minh Chau has been noticed by the public since 2022, when he enrolled in the Information Technology major at Dong A University. The image of a male student sitting in a wheelchair, confident, optimistic, loving life, and brave, has become a motivation for other students to live and study positively.

Suffering from a serious illness since childhood, Chau was still brave and steadfast in overcoming difficulties to reach the university gate. The male student achieved good academic performance for 12 consecutive years, achieving 5.5 IELTS even before becoming a student.

After being admitted to Dong A University, Minh Chau was awarded a full scholarship by the school. Despite being confined to a wheelchair, the student studied hard, completed his courses and achieved 6.5 IELTS. Chau also actively participated in social activities, inspiring determination and the will to live. The young man was called the brave "tin soldier".

While he was pursuing his dream with determination, Minh Chau's health took a turn for the worse. Unable to overcome it, he made the wrong decision to donate his body to medical science.

In the honorary degree, the school wrote: "First semester study results, plans to build a successful path in 4 years of university, become a Graphic Design Engineer, research on visual principles, cinema, create Vietnamese cultural and historical software products, and more importantly, donate your body to medicine to thank life when you feel you are no longer healthy."

Moved by this male student's act of kindness, Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Dao shared that God did not give Minh Chau the same health as his peers, but he compensated with extraordinary willpower.

"You deserve to be respected and forever proud of by your family, teachers, friends, and this life. You leave behind the lecture hall, teachers, friends, the private wheelchair path, the banyan tree, and the beautiful, fresh, young flower-filled schoolyard that you love every day. They will definitely follow you to every corner of the world," emphasized Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Dao.

At the funeral, Minh Chau's family also filled out a voluntary body donation form, fulfilling Chau's noble wish to donate her body to medicine after she passed away.

Minh Chau's body will be brought to Phan Chau Trinh University for medical research and development purposes.
