Asia

XINHUA. Chinese Premier Li Qiang will pay official visits to New Zealand, Australia and Malaysia from June 13-20, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian announced.

CHINA DAILY. Chinese police have arrested a suspect in a knife attack on four foreigners and one Chinese man in a park in Jilin City, Jilin Province.

KOREA TIMES. South Korea and China plan to hold a 2+2 dialogue between senior foreign and defense officials early next week,

KYODO. Streptococcal toxic shock syndrome, a potentially fatal disease caused by flesh-eating bacteria, is spreading rapidly in Japan, with the number of cases in the first half of 2024 surpassing last year.

MINT. India will focus on finding a solution to border issues with China, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said after assuming office for a second consecutive term.

TIMES OF INDIA. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani over the phone, reaffirming his commitment to taking bilateral relations to unprecedented heights.

TASS. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan met on the sidelines of the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Nizhny Novgorod, discussing the situation in the Middle East, the South Caucasus, the Ukraine conflict...

NL TIMES. Political parties in the Netherlands have reached a final agreement on forming the next right-wing government , said Party for Freedom (PVV) leader Geert Wilders.

America

CBS NEWS. The US Navy will monitor the visit of a Russian naval fleet to Cuba, after information that the destroyer Admiral Gorshkov, the nuclear submarine Kazan and two logistics ships docked in Havana from June 12-17.

AP. The waterway through Baltimore, Maryland, USA has been fully reopened, after more than two months of being blocked due to the container ship crash that hit the Francis Scott Key Bridge in March.

AHRAM. Gunmen from criminal gangs attacked the village of Gidan Boka in Katsina state, Nigeria, killing 26 people and kidnapping dozens, mostly women and children.

BBC. Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera confirmed that Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima and nine people on board a military plane that went missing a day earlier were killed in a plane crash.

DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF AUSTRALIA. Australia welcomes the UN Security Council resolution supporting a comprehensive ceasefire , permanent cessation of hostilities and the commencement of reconstruction in Gaza.

NZ HERALD. New Zealand has announced the deployment of 41 additional military personnel to the UN mission along the heavily fortified Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) separating the two Koreas.

International organization

UNICEF. Nearly 400 million children under the age of five are exposed to physical and emotional abuse in their own homes, according to a report by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
