Before becoming known as an artist, she was a model and participated in beauty pageants. Phan Anh Thu was in the top 25 of Miss World Vietnam 2019 and won the title of Miss Teen Asia at the Miss Teen International 2019 contest in India.

Despite achieving certain achievements in beauty contests, Phan Anh Thu chose to "end her beauty queen dream" to pursue a career in painting and become a young artist as she is today.

Talking to Dan Tri reporter, Phan Anh Thu said: "People often think that if you have beauty and height, you should compete in beauty pageants, but clearly, I have many other paths to take, not necessarily becoming a beauty queen.

I asked myself, if I became a beauty queen, would I be able to paint and enjoy life as I wished, that was something I had been pondering for a long time. Finally, I found my destination, which is my passion for painting and helping children improve their education level."

Phan Anh Thu said it took her 6 years to find her true dream and ambition. The beauty realized she was not suited to become a beauty queen or a famous figure in the entertainment industry.

During her time pursuing her artistic career, Phan Anh had the opportunity to travel to remote, mountainous areas to teach painting to children. From there, she nurtured the idea of carrying out a larger project of building schools and boarding houses for children in mountainous areas by raising funds by selling paintings.

The exhibition of Phan Anh Thu's painting "Em" is one of the activities to raise funds for the above project. All revenue from the sale of paintings and picture books will be donated to the construction of a boarding school at the Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center of Kbang District, Gia Lai Province, estimated at about 600 million VND.

The exhibition features 50 paintings by Phan Anh Thu. She said each work carries its own story and memory, recreating diverse scenes from urban to rural areas, spanning the length of the country. Each story is associated with places such as the Northwest, Hanoi, Hue, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh City...

Talking about her project, Anh Thu shared: "I have witnessed the "search for letters" and the difficult lives of children in the highlands. They cannot go to school because their homes are far away, some have to drop out of school, some stay at boarding houses.

That motivates me to contribute and do more for the children. What could be happier than helping many people?
