On the evening of November 16, Mr. Le Cuong - Chairman of Tra Bui Commune People's Committee said that continuous heavy rain in recent days has caused 10 serious landslides on DH8 road leading to the commune center.

According to Mr. Cuong, currently, more than 500 households of 4 villages: 3, 4, 5, 6 of Tra Bui commune are completely isolated; many areas have lost power due to heavy rain and landslides.

"Authorities have mobilized mechanical vehicles to overcome the landslide but have not yet been able to reach the isolated area.

The road leading to the four villages above is a single route, so when a serious landslide occurs, the only way to reach the isolated area is to row on the Song Tranh 2 hydroelectric reservoir. However, using a boat at this time will be very dangerous because of the flood water," said Mr. Cuong.

According to Mr. Cuong, among the residential areas of the 4 isolated villages, So Ro peak (with 147 households living there) is the most worrying because there have been many landslides here.

To support more than 500 isolated households, Tra Bui commune authorities are considering proposing to superiors to facilitate the circulation of 1 to 2 boats with the purpose of providing food to people every day and transporting people to medical examination and treatment.

Regarding the landslide situation, on the same morning, the Quang Nam Department of Transport said that heavy rains in recent days caused Ho Chi Minh road, section Km1377+500 in Kham Duc town, Phuoc Son district to collapse with an estimated volume of rock and soil pouring down from the positive slope of about 15,000m3.
