Tan Hop is a commune in region I of Van Yen district (Yen Bai province) with a natural area of 6,290.92 hectares, mainly agricultural land. The whole commune has 1,337 households with 5,009 people, divided into 6 villages, of which over 60% are ethnic minorities. Traffic in the commune is relatively convenient, meeting the travel and production needs of the people.
Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, the locality always receives high consensus within the Party, government and socio-political organizations, especially the positive response of the people.

Tan Hop commune was recognized by the People's Committee of Yen Bai province as a commune meeting new rural standards in 2021. Immediately after the district's policy on building Tan Hop commune to meet advanced new rural standards in 2023, the locality clearly identified tasks and proposed key solutions for the whole period.
With the motto "The State and the people work together, mobilizing internal resources as the main, taking advantage of state investment and support" in building roads, schools, village cultural houses, planting flower roads, lighting up rural roads, moving fences and donating land...

Propaganda and mobilization work is always carried out regularly and continuously by organizations in both breadth and depth, to help cadres and people clearly understand the policies of the Party and State, and the role of the people in building new rural areas.
Since then, it has spread to every village and household, receiving the support of local people, thereby mobilizing a large number of people to actively participate and join hands in building a model new rural village and an advanced new rural commune.
With the drastic participation of the entire political system and the active solidarity of the people, at the end of 2023, Tan Hop commune was recognized as meeting advanced new rural standards.

Identifying agriculture and forestry as the spearhead in local economic development, in recent years, Tan Hop commune has directed production towards commodities, with output linkages for products, gradually consolidating stable and sustainable linkage chains, associated with the implementation of Resolution 69 of Yen Bai province, in which 21 models have been deployed. In particular, Tan Hop commune has a large cinnamon growing area, this is the main crop of the locality, contributing to creating the Van Yen cinnamon brand.

In 2024, thanks to the policy of supporting economic development projects of the province and district, people actively participated in developing economic models, establishing production groups and teams, and supporting production. The locality has implemented a policy for people to borrow capital from preferential credit programs of the state through the Social Policy Bank.
Thereby, poor, near-poor and newly escaped poverty households, unemployed workers can borrow capital to develop their family economy, support the creation of new industries, help people have the motivation to develop the economy, thereby stabilizing and gradually improving the socio-economy in the area.

In recent years, the commune has shifted its labor structure in the right direction, increasing the proportion of non-agricultural labor to over 50% (mainly construction, small-scale industry, services, etc.), contributing to the trade of goods and increasing people's income. In addition, rural industries have developed quite strongly, and people's quality of life has improved significantly.

Promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, the Party Committee, government and people of Tan Hop commune will continue to maintain and improve the quality of the achieved criteria, maintain and improve the quality of the villages that have met the standards of model new rural villages, continue to build the remaining villages into model new rural villages, creating the premise for building a commune that meets the standards of model new rural villages.

Mr. Trieu Dinh Khoi - Vice Chairman of Tan Hop Commune People's Committee, Van Yen District, Yen Bai Province said: Although in 2024, due to the impact of natural disasters, some new rural criteria in the commune were lacking. However, the locality is still determined to overcome all difficulties, restore production as well as repair damaged village roads, alleys, bridges and many other works. Up to now, the repairs have been basically completed, only a few points remain due to large capital sources, so the locality is waiting for support and investment from the district.

According to Mr. Khoi, up to this point, the locality has basically completed the traffic criteria in the construction of new rural areas. For some villages in the commune, this year we will continue to build village roads, production roads, in which since the beginning of the year, the locality has built dozens of kilometers of rural roads.
The power grid system has also been upgraded, the electric lines lighting up the countryside roads have been assigned to organizations to continue covering all village roads and alleys, ensuring the criteria for lighting up the countryside roads according to the advanced new rural criteria.

For public service units in the area, up to now, the health station has met national standards, the kindergarten has met level 2 standards, and the secondary school has met level 3 universal standards. Currently, the rate of poor and near-poor households in the commune is still more than 4%, the rate of sustainable poverty reduction is guaranteed, the living standards of people in the area have been greatly improved, the average income per capita in 2023 in the area reached 59 million VND/person/year.
"In the coming time, the locality will continue to maintain and improve the achieved new rural and advanced new rural criteria, and build and perfect the model new rural criteria," Mr. Khoi informed.
