A secondary school in Ho Chi Minh City has been renovated and modernized.

This morning, August 20, in District 6, Ho Chi Minh City, the inauguration ceremony of the project to repair and renovate Nguyen Duc Canh Secondary School and collect voluntary funds from the people in 2024 took place.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy; Permanent Vice Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Thanh Trung; Secretary of District 6 Party Committee Ma Xuan Viet; Deputy Secretary of District Party Committee, Chairman of District 6 People's Committee Le Thi Thanh Thao and many delegates.

Mr. Huynh Minh Hoang, the school's principal, said that Nguyen Duc Canh Secondary School, formerly known as Minh Phung Primary School, was established and operated before 1975. In 1981, the school was named Nguyen Duc Canh. In the 1995-1996 school year, the school was separated from Nguyen Duc Canh Primary and Secondary School. Since then, generations of cadres, teachers, employees and students of the school have always strived to overcome difficulties, creatively leading in educational activities, literature, sports, and fine arts, etc.

At the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Ma Xuan Viet, Secretary of District 6 Party Committee, said that the cooperation of the community and society has realized the wishes of teachers and students of District 6 in general and teachers and students of Nguyen Duc Canh Secondary School in particular for a safe, friendly, and gradually modern school. This is a meaningful gift for teachers and students of the school before the new school year 2024 - 2025. In addition, this is also a very meaningful project from social support resources and at the same time, opens a new direction in organizing the implementation of really necessary projects to serve the people to celebrate the 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day.

The total cost of renovating and repairing Nguyen Duc Canh Secondary School is 12.4 billion VND.

Nguyen Hoang Chau, a student at Nguyen Duc Canh Secondary School, was excited to see that the place where she will be working in the coming school years has become spacious and modern. "After the school was repainted, I could no longer recognize my old school. I like the new dome that the school has changed to protect against the sun and rain the most, because compared to the old dome, this dome makes the space much more airy and looks like a theater," the female student shared.

Awarding Nguyen Duc Canh scholarships to students in difficult circumstances

At the inauguration ceremony, there was also a ceremony to award Nguyen Duc Canh scholarships to students in difficult circumstances; a program to care for families of policy beneficiaries, war invalids and martyrs, families with meritorious services; families in difficult circumstances, poor households, near-poor households and people with disabilities in the area.

The District 6 Labor Federation in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of District 6 awarded 30 Nguyen Duc Canh scholarships to disadvantaged students who are children of officials, civil servants, employees, and workers in District 6.
