Today, at the closing ceremony of the 2023-2024 school year for high school students at Marie Curie School at My Dinh campus, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khang, Chairman of the Board of Marie Curie School (Hanoi), spoke with love and pride about the efforts of his students over the past year.

Mr. Khang emphasized the outstanding English achievements of Marie Curie "residents". This year, up to 334/428 (accounting for 78.04%) of 12th grade students with IELTS certificates are eligible for exemption from the foreign language exam in the high school graduation exam, according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Many of them will use this certificate to apply to domestic universities and study abroad according to their wishes.
Notably, in 14 12th grade classes at My Dinh campus, there are 4 classes with 100% and 3 classes with over 90% of students having foreign language certificates and achieving very high scores. The "most impressive" result belongs to class 12E1 with an average IELTS score of up to 7.41; 3 classes have a rate of 100%, the rest have average scores from 6.62 to 6.97...
"Secret" of the class where most students achieve IELTS 7.5
Sharing more with Thanh Nien reporter, Ms. Lien Huong, Head of the English Department of the school's high school, said that this year, the number of students with IELTS certificates increased slightly compared to last year, but the number of classes achieving 100% has doubled.
As the English teacher of class 12E1, a class with an average IELTS score of 7.41, Ms. Lien Huong analyzed: this class is made up of students with very good English skills, and the entrance scores for grade 10 of this subject are all high.
However, to achieve such high average results, many students got 7.5 points and 2 students got 8.0 points, it is a great effort and investment, first of all from the students themselves, in this subject. Studying in class is very important, but the students are all very aware of self-studying and improving their foreign language skills.
To achieve such a high IELTS score, not only do you have to be good at foreign language skills, you also have to read a lot, learn well in other subjects, and research and understand life and society domestically and internationally.
According to Ms. Lien Huong, right from the time they chose their school and class, the students had a very clear goal of having to study all four English skills well to get a high score in the IELTS exam. Therefore, most of the students in the class did not have to retake the exam to get a higher score.
Many students set a goal of achieving a score of 7.5 and completing the IELTS exam in grade 11 so that in grade 12 they can focus on their final exams and university entrance exams, and they have achieved that goal.
"There are students who are determined to get an IELTS score of 8.0 but only got 7.5 the first time, they still try to take the test again and get the result they want," said Ms. Lien Huong, affirming that with any subject, especially English, if students have clear goals, determination and choose the right way to study, they will get the desired results.

Having taught English directly at Marie Curie School for many years, Ms. Lien Huong shared: the trend of students learning English to take international language certificates for university admission and studying abroad is increasing.
Schools and teachers quickly grasp the students' wishes to adjust foreign language teaching accordingly. In addition to closely following the Ministry of Education and Training's program, teachers must seek out sources of documents that are suitable for the IELTS exam goal, practice all four skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) for students to integrate into English lessons according to the school's timetable as well as the school's enhanced English so that students do not have to study much outside. "Of course, I still emphasize the students' own determination and efforts, and the family's right investment from the beginning are especially important," said Ms. Lien Huong.
According to Ms. Lien Huong, although more than 78% of students are eligible for exemption from the exam and scoring of 10 foreign language subjects in the upcoming high school graduation exam, they will base on their own needs and the admission regulations of each university to make appropriate choices.
"I always wish all students will be fluent in foreign languages"
Teacher Nguyen Xuan Khang shared with students on the closing day: "Since the first years of establishment, the school has focused on building and developing a comprehensive, international standard English program. I always wish that all Marie Curie students will be proficient in foreign languages. I have encouraged them from primary to secondary school and have achieved great success at high school.
I believe that with the school's determination in the educational program, there will come a time when 100% of Marie Curie students will have international language certificates at a level that can be used for many different purposes."
