According to the special announcement of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and his family, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Central Military Commission passed away at 13:38 on July 19, 2024 (ie June 14, Giap Thin year), at the 108 Central Military Hospital (Hanoi), at the age of 80. His passing is a great loss to the Party, the State, our people and his family.
The funeral of comrade Nguyen Phu Trong will be held with the ceremony of National Mourning. During the two days of National Mourning (July 25, 2024 and July 26, 2024), agencies, offices, and public places will fly flags at half-mast, and no public entertainment activities will be organized.
Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong's coffin will lie in state at the National Funeral Home, 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi. The visitation will begin from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on July 25, 2024 and from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on July 26, 2024.
The memorial service for comrade Nguyen Phu Trong will be held at 1:00 p.m. on July 26, 2024 at the National Funeral Home No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi. The burial ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m. the same day at Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi.
