While many fashion brands are running out of steam and withdrawing from the market, Uniqlo is still confident in sharing its plans to expand strongly in Vietnam in the near future.

Recently, Uniqlo - a global fashion retail brand from Japan - held an event to celebrate the brand's 5th year of presence in Vietnam.
Open 6 new stores in Vietnam in 2024
On this occasion, Uniqlo announced that it will open its first store at Vincom Bien Hoa shopping mall (Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai province) at the end of this year. At the same time, the brand also revealed its plan to expand to the Central region with the first store in Hue in 2025, completing the retail store system across the three regions of North - Central - South.
Including the store in Bien Hoa that is about to open, Uniqlo has opened a total of 6 new points of sale this year, bringing the total number of stores to 27, after only 5 years of presence in Vietnam.
Despite the global fashion market facing many difficulties, Uniqlo still recorded positive results from its direct-to-online sales. On the Uniqlo app alone, the brand recorded a 140% increase in users compared to last year.
According to Mr. Nishida Hideki, General Director of Uniqlo Vietnam, the brand is very lucky to be loved by Vietnamese consumers. Many outstanding products such as UV Protection jackets, Heattech shirts to keep warm in cold weather... have received positive feedback from consumers.
Fast Retailing's 2024 financial report - Uniqlo's parent company - showed strong growth in Southeast Asia, India and Australia, contributing to a record profit of more than 500 billion yen (about 3.55 billion USD), up 31% from the previous year.
Towards sustainable development of Vietnamese fashion industry
Uniqlo Vietnam's General Director assessed that one of the important factors leading to Uniqlo's success in Vietnam is the strategy of increasing the proportion of "Made in Vietnam" products.
Accordingly, more than 60% of products sold at Uniqlo stores in Vietnam are now produced domestically, up from more than 50% last year. According to Mr. Nishida Hideki, this helps the brand respond more quickly to consumer demands.
"We will continue to increase the localization rate in the coming years, not only to help stabilize supply but also to promote the development of the domestic textile industry," the general director of Uniqlo Vietnam emphasized.
In addition, Uniqlo places special emphasis on sustainable development through nurturing local talent. Currently, 74% of Uniqlo’s store managers and regional managers in Vietnam are Vietnamese. The brand is also committed to expanding its recruitment and training program for employees with disabilities, with the goal of reaching 1% of its total employees by 2025.
