On May 7, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City sent an urgent document to the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the City Department of Education and Training, implementing Decision 1074/2024 of the Ministry of Education and Training on establishing a delegation of Vietnamese officials and students to attend the 2024 International Science and Technology Competition in the US, the City Department of Education and Training sent a delegation of officials, teachers and students to participate from May 10 to 19 in Los Angeles, California - USA.

However, up to this point, the delegation still has one member who is a candidate participating in the exam without a visa, Nguyen Le Quoc Bao, a student at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted.

Nguyen Le Quoc Bao had an interview on April 25 but was not granted a visa. He re-registered and was scheduled for a second interview on May 30. However, the competition will take place from May 11 to May 17, according to US time. Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City delegation will travel with the Ministry of Education and Training delegation to the US on May 10 to attend.

For the above reason, "The Department of Education and Training of the City respectfully requests the Standing Committee of the City People's Committee and the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City to support sending a diplomatic note to the US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City to create conditions for Nguyen Le Quoc Bao to be interviewed early to be on schedule to participate in the contest" - the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said.

Along with the above recommendation, the Department of Education and Training also sent a document to the US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City.

It is known that Nguyen Le Quoc Bao (class 12CA) and Le Tuan Hy (class 12B) are the two students who won first prize in the national science and technology competition (organized by the Ministry of Education and Training at the end of March 2024). The project of these two students is "Integrated deep learning software to segment and reconstruct monolithic heart structures in simulated 3D space for medical practice applications", which was also selected by the Ministry of Education and Training to participate in the 2024 international science and technology competition in the US.

Sharing about the project, Nguyen Le Quoc Bao said that the project aims to support doctors and imaging diagnostic experts in providing diagnostic results from CT scans by recreating 2D images into 3D simulations, thereby easily serving medical practice.

The project software has gone through many versions and has been gradually upgraded to meet the needs through direct exchanges with doctors at many hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City.

From the "order" of the doctors for the project, the team started writing an algorithm to research deeply into post-analysis after 3D reconstruction.
