On the morning of May 29, the program Thuy's Dream organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper, with the participation of Miss Student 2023 Trinh Huyen Mai, presented 15 gifts to children with cancer being treated at the National Children's Hospital.

Small gifts before Children's Day June 1st help children with illnesses have more motivation to fight their illness.

Khoi's late birthday gift

More than 4 months after that birthday, Ms. Hoa (Khoi's mother, living in Nam Dinh province) still cannot believe that the terrible cancer "chose" her child.

She recalled that her daughter and her older sister had the same birthday, so the family always celebrated it together for them. But that day, her daughter had a cough, wheezing, and difficulty breathing, so the family rushed her to see a doctor.

"Before that, my child also had similar symptoms but the disease was not yet found. After that, the doctor did more tests and examinations and announced that my child had malignant lymphoma. The joy of a new age had not yet arrived, but the sadness of hearing the news of the disease made the family feel heartbroken," Ms. Hoa shared.

Thuy's Dream program gives gifts to cancer patients in Hanoi

Leaving her baby, less than 1 year old, in the care of her husband, Ms. Hoa and her son stayed in Hanoi for treatment. Seeing her son's hair fall out after chemotherapy treatments, the mother's heart ached.

"When I first came here, I ate everything, including noodles, porridge, and pho. I was lucky enough to gain 4-5 kilos. But since I started doing chemicals, I can't eat anymore, not even rice. I feel so sorry for my child but I don't know what to do.

The aunts and uncles here also encouraged the family and the child. Thanks to their care and attention, the child gradually opened up. Now, the child is being treated in the cancer department. I myself am now only thinking about trying my best for the child," Ms. Hoa shared.

When asked which gift he liked best, Khoi eagerly replied: "I like the dinosaur stuffed animal the most."

As soon as Khoi answered, Miss Student 2023 Trinh Huyen Mai brought a dinosaur teddy bear to give to her child. This was a special gift prepared and brought by Huyen Mai herself to give to the children.

At their age, these are probably very meaningful gifts, like a late birthday present that Thuy's Dream program brought to Khoi, giving him more motivation to fight his illness.

Gifts of love

Joining Thuy's Dream for the first time, Trinh Huyen Mai shared that she felt this was a very meaningful program. Therefore, as soon as she learned about the program, she joined.

"As soon as I knew I had the opportunity to join the program, I prepared teddy bears to give to the sick children. I know children love teddy bears, so I bought teddy bears and added a little lucky money, as a way to show my gratitude to the children.

The gift does not have much material value but has spiritual meaning, helping the children feel the love of the community, and giving them more strength to continue fighting the deadly disease," Mai shared.

Receiving gifts from Thuy's Dream program, Mr. Tran Van Hoc, Chairman of the Central Children's Hospital Trade Union, sent his thanks to readers of Tuoi Tre newspaper.

Mr. Hoc said that the hospital is currently treating hundreds of children with cancer, many of whom are in difficult circumstances.

"The community's sharing will be the motivation for the sick children and their families to fight the disease. It will help families in difficult circumstances have more money to cover the cost of treatment. Thank you to Thuy's Dream program and Tuoi Tre newspaper readers for accompanying the sick children throughout the past time," said Mr. Hoc.

Over the past two days, Thuy's Dream program has sent hundreds of gifts to children with cancer across the country. In Hanoi, 45 gifts were sent to children treated at K Hospital, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, and the National Children's Hospital.

Each gift is worth 5.3 million VND, including 5 million VND in cash and the rest in gifts. The gifts are expected to help the children and their families cover the costs of treatment.

In particular, small gifts before Children's Day also help children feel the care of the community, they are not alone on their path to cancer treatment.
