Behind this publication are two collectors, Le Quang Vinh and Pham Quoc Dat - who have "repatriated" to Vietnam the works of famous painter Tran Phuc Duyen.
At the book launch seminar held on the morning of January 11 in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Pham Quoc Dat said that the title Duyen has many meanings. "Duyen" is both the name of the late painter, the "charming" beauty, and the "origin" in the ancient sense - the origin of the collection journey and also "charming" when in this process, he met many researchers, curators as well as young staff in the stages of printing, organizing exhibitions...

In addition, Mr. Le Quang Vinh also shared that there were 3 reasons why he started to seek out the art of the late painter Tran Phuc Duyen. At the age of 25, because he wanted to find something meaningful for himself, he went abroad. In England, because he received a lot of help, he wanted to spread the values of love to more people, but at that time he still did not know what to do. One time, when he went to the Heineken Experience Museum in the Netherlands, seeing how this country spreads artistic values, he knew what he needed to do.
Later, when researching the history of Vietnamese fine arts, Mr. Vinh and Mr. Dat realized that there was a big gap in the period belonging to the generation of French painters and lecturers of the Indochina Fine Arts School. Another chance encounter was when reading an article about the "treasure" of paintings that had been "forgotten" in a European castle, both of them sought out and immediately fell in love with the Vietnamese-style landscapes of Tran Phuc Duyen - a painter from the Indochina Fine Arts School. And their journey with the works of the famous painter Tran Phuc Duyen has lasted until today.
