(Dan Tri) - The discount offer of Honda CBR150R at private motorbike dealers in the last month of 2024 has reached 30% of the vehicle's value, the actual purchase price is equal to a scooter model like Vario 160.
The year-end shopping season and the Lunar New Year holiday are not only the annual peak season for the automobile market, but also the "playground" for two-wheeled vehicles. Dealers take advantage of the high purchasing power of users, launching big incentives to stimulate demand for unpopular products, such as the Honda CBR150R.
According to Dan Tri reporters, this small-engine motorcycle model is being offered a registration fee of 5 million VND by many authorized dealers. However, at private motorcycle establishments, the price of the vehicle is much lower than the suggested price of 72.3-73.8 million VND.
A private dealer in Hanoi is offering the CBR150R manufactured in 2023 (VIN 2023) for 49.5 million VND, which is nearly 23 million VND lower than the listed price. This actual selling price is only equal to a scooter model like the Honda Vario 160 (from 51.99 million VND).
Meanwhile, at another private motorbike business, Honda CBR150R VIN 2024 is offered for sale at 57 million VND, still about 16 million VND cheaper than the listed price.

Experts explain that private motorcycle dealers, in addition to purchasing used models, also import some new models from the manufacturer to diversify their product portfolio. However, the Honda CBR150R is not very popular, causing a backlog of vehicles at these establishments, forcing them to "clear losses" in the last month of the year.
According to some sales consultants working at Honda's authorized dealers, the CBR150R is not a best-selling product. The vehicle has a rugged design and a high price, so customers tend to buy the Winner X if they want to experience a manual transmission vehicle.

In addition, the CBR150R's direct competitor, the Yamaha YZF-15, has a more attractive price, starting at 70 million VND, creating more competitive pressure for the Honda model. However, the YZF-R15's consumption is not really good, according to sales consultants.
Experts explain that both the Honda CBR150R and Yamaha YZF-R15 have a sport-bike design. Although the shell has many eye-catching lines, the clip-on handlebars provide a sitting position that is not suitable for daily commuting needs.
In the 150cc motorbike segment in the price range of 70 million VND, Yamaha has more products than Honda, for example: MT-15 (from 69 million VND) or XS155R (from 77 million VND). Of which, XS155R is having quite stable sales thanks to its retro design (modern classic), suitable for the taste of Vietnamese customers.
