Faced with the reality that Vietnam is one of the fastest aging countries in the world, Mr. Phan Van Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, has given advice and suggestions to support women in starting businesses, especially middle-aged and elderly women.
Assessing the results achieved by the Vietnam Women's Union in implementing the Project to Support Women in Starting a Business in the 2017-2025 period (Project 939), Mr. Phan Van Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, said that he had spent time following and attending many programs and conferences and realized that the Women's Union at all levels had achieved many successes in successfully implementing the Project. These are very meaningful successes that need to be replicated, creating a strong spread of the entrepreneurial spirit among women in particular and the Vietnamese startup ecosystem in general.
At the Consultation Workshop on Strategic Orientation to Support Women Entrepreneurs in the 2026-2035 Period Organized by the Vietnam Women's Union, Mr. Phan Van Hung agreed with the proposed 10-year implementation period of the Project and highly appreciated the content and the subjects of the Project in the next phase, which is to expand the support subjects to subjects such as middle-aged women, the elderly, the elderly, etc.
Mr. Phan Van Hung shared that Vietnam is currently one of the fastest aging countries in the world. By 2026, Vietnam will officially enter the aging population stage and the aging process will end in 2030. This means that 2/3 of the elderly population will have to participate in production labor. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare the startup luggage for Vietnamese people, especially women, from a young age.
With such a goal, the Vice President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly proposed that the Vietnam Women's Union should pay attention to and support women starting businesses in different areas such as: urban, rural, ethnic minority areas... In addition, Mr. Hung also emphasized the important role of scientists, experts, intellectuals, the role of agencies coordinating with the Women's Union at all levels in developing plans, accompanying and supporting women to start businesses more deeply.
In particular, Mr. Phan Van Hung also suggested that in the next phase of the Project to Support Women in Starting a Business, it is necessary to empower more agencies and localities and to have guidance documents and assign specific tasks so that the process of organizing and operating support for women in starting a business is smooth.
On the morning of December 3, 2024, the Vietnam Women's Union organized a consultation workshop on strategic orientations to support women in starting businesses for the period 2026-2035 to identify goals, tasks and solutions to support women in starting businesses to meet the requirements in the new situation.
The workshop was attended by representatives of ministries, branches, experts, startup consultants, organizations and units accompanying the Vietnam Women's Union, women entrepreneurs and representatives of the Women's Union at all levels.
The valuable information and useful sharing of the workshop will be an important basis for the Vietnam Women's Union to continue researching and adjusting solutions and activities to support and promote women's startups in an increasingly innovative and creative direction, keeping up with the strong development of science and technology, digital transformation, green transformation, and sustainable development of the country.
