Editor/MC, actress Minh Huong.

Currently, Minh Huong is an MC and editor of ANTV channel. She believes that the profession chooses the person, the turning point that led her to journalism and to the ranks of the People's Public Security Force (CAND).

Going out early and coming home late is a regular thing.

- Busy with many roles, how does your day go to make sure everything is taken care of?

Being a journalist, especially a visual journalist, is very busy because everyone has to produce reports, news, and event programs to serve the daily news bulletins. Minh Huong in the role of Editor/MC has its own characteristics, the editing and hosting schedule is planned in advance from the beginning of the week, in shifts, so I can proactively spend time with my family.

Besides, I am lucky to receive sharing and support from my family so everything is always arranged appropriately.

- According to you, what are the difficulties of editors and MCs like you that the audience cannot see?

Although he looks capricious on the outside, working in television, most of the news and programs on ANTV are live, so leaving early and coming home late is a regular thing. That's why people often compare him to a television worker.

While other professions are off on holidays, television reporters and law enforcement officers are still on duty, even ready to take on urgent tasks when there are important or hot events. Although I look beautiful on screen, in order to convey information to the audience in a natural, accurate and engaging way, I regularly improve my knowledge, read, analyze and update the information scripts sent by reporters.

In addition to being punctual, I am careful with every line and frame. To do this, I must always practice and constantly learn and improve my professional knowledge about the police force, about life, about social issues. I do not consider it a hardship or difficulty, but always think that it is a task that I must strive to complete as best as possible.

- Who is your biggest inspiration in journalism?

Journalism is probably my destiny. But to bring me to this destiny, I must say a deep thank you to Lieutenant General, writer Huu Uoc. When I first joined CAND Television, Lieutenant General, writer Huu Uoc was the Editor-in-Chief. He trusted me and gave me the opportunity to try my hand at the role of TV editor/MC.

Huong learned a lot about the profession from the style, courage and determination in journalism of Lieutenant General, writer Huu Uoc. The closeness and friendliness of the leader with heart and vision, always instructing and sharing valuable experiences with me and my colleagues. It is these factors that have given me maturity and made Minh Huong what she is today.

Besides, I admire the big names in journalism such as Mr. Lai Van Sam, Ms. Ta Bich Loan, Mr. Quang Minh and Mr. Tuan Anh. I often watch the programs they produce and host to gain more experience for my work.

Used to be emotional and competitive before turning to journalism

- Minh Huong of today compared to Minh Huong of ten years ago, how do you see yourself changing?

Ten years ago, when I first started working in journalism, everything was very new. I signed up for an MC training class with Ms. Kim Tien and then studied for a Master's degree in journalism and media management to improve my knowledge and expertise. At first, I did it by instinct and then learned as I went. I had to work harder and try harder than my colleagues because I came from a background as a traditional music artist and actor. Up until now, perhaps the profession chose me, I have caught up quite quickly.

In the past, as an artist, I was sometimes emotional and competitive, thinking about things too simply. But when I entered journalism and encountered social issues through the eyes of a journalist, I realized that I needed to change, to learn with an open-minded attitude to improve myself.

Although I am not a reporter who delves into hot social topics, the job of a TV editor/MC requires courage and sensitivity when conveying hot news happening during the day to the audience. I am fortunate to be able to work with my colleagues, who are professional police journalists, to produce political TV programs.

For me, the job of Editor/MC always makes me full of enthusiasm. My love and belief in the job grows more and more over time.

- Have you ever felt discouraged by your choice?

I am fortunate to work at the Public Security Communications Department and ANTV channel. ANTV is the environment where I can practice, grow, and spread meaningful things to the community. There are times when I feel tired due to work pressure, but I have not felt discouraged.

To improve my expertise, I always have a spirit of learning and always try to work hard. And the achievement that Huong received is the recognition of the leaders when standing in the ranks of the police force. In the near future, I will spend more time traveling to remote areas, border islands... to gain more experience for journalism.

- Have you ever turned down a role because of your main job?

Journalism allows Huong to meet many people from many different walks of life, helping me understand more about life, about each person's fate and really helping me to approach each role more easily and deeply.

When I wear the uniform of a police journalist, I am more aware of my position and responsibility. Therefore, I am more careful and selective in choosing roles. I like roles that are introspective, have struggles, have depth, and are educational and socially oriented.

Decision to register for organ donation after death

- Until now, many audiences still call you by the familiar name Vang Anh from years ago? Do you feel uncomfortable or want to step out of the shadow of this role?

I never thought like that (laughs). Because I feel lucky that after nearly 20 years, the audience still remembers me, a Vang Anh on screen. The role of Vang Anh is a short film series, talking about the emotions and psychology of young students. VFC gave me the opportunity to change my life, I am always grateful for that.

- In 2019, you shared about registering to donate organs. What prompted you to make that decision?

I decided to register to donate organs after charity trips and meeting people who are less fortunate in life. I often host programs with many humane stories about people who have donated corneas and organs to save the lives of people with serious illnesses. I hope that my work will contribute to spreading the message to change the concept of organ donation of many people. Giving is happiness, if I can give as much as possible to bring life to many people, I am always ready.

I have faith in Buddhism, because according to Buddhism, the law of cause and effect is that when we give something, we will receive something in return. When we are alive, we should do good things for others. However, nowadays, there are still many different prejudices about organ donation, but fortunately, my family always understands and supports my decision.

- You are currently a Police Lieutenant, how did you strive for this rank?

When I was a student, I was quite quiet, shy and did not interact much with my friends. When I grew up, I studied folk music at the National Academy of Music and had the opportunity to interact and learn in an artistic environment, so I loved it very much. However, it is true that the profession chooses the person, the turning point led me to journalism and to the ranks of the police force. With my will and enthusiasm, eagerness to learn and a spirit of seeking knowledge, not afraid of hardships in a highly disciplined environment like the Police Communications Department, I have affirmed my position like that.

- Is the new film project "Investigation Team No. 7" your first role as a police officer? What can you share about your return to the screen?

The 100-episode series Investigation Team No. 7 is produced by CAND Cinema and the CAND Media Department, revolving around the investigation and case-solving work of Investigation Team No. 7 in a locality where serious crimes such as murder, hostage-taking often occur, with perpetrators from many backgrounds, from businessmen to intellectuals. These cold-blooded criminals have relationships with the people's police officers as former classmates and relatives.

Minh Huong in Investigation Team No. 7.

I am happy that the director trusted me with the female lead role. This is also the first time I have played a police detective. Reading the script, I was really attracted and looked forward to the day of filming.

Before that, to be able to play the role well, I signed up for a martial arts training course, quickly learning from stance, how to move when undercover, and chasing down suspects. Because this character requires both physical strength and criminal police skills.

Currently, I and the film crew are filming scenes in Dien Bien province. During the peak of the hot season, traveling far, in villages, in deep forests, there are days when I work continuously for 20 hours. Although it is very hard, the crew always encourages each other to perform their roles best.
