The “Broadcast channels” feature has been available on Instagram for a while now, with the main purpose of updating content creators without creating posts on their pages. In the latest announcement, Meta said that this feature will soon be available on Facebook and Messenger, expected in the coming weeks.
Initially, the “Announcement Channel” will be available to Facebook page administrators to update information similar to how it works for Instagram creators. Page admins can use many small features in the “Announcement Channel” such as creating polls to receive feedback from the community following, sending photos or videos behind the scenes of an event, using voice notes, etc.
"Notification Channels" are no longer a strange feature for Instagram users
CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that Meta is testing the ability for fanpage administrators to create their own "Notification Channels". Immediately after the channel is created and messages are sent, followers of the page will receive a one-time notification to join the channel. Here, only accounts that are channel owners are allowed to create messages, the remaining members can interact with that content, vote on polls...
It should be noted that by joining a channel, users will receive notifications (on their personal account) by default every time the channel posts new content. To avoid being disturbed, they can turn off notifications for this channel (click the silent icon in the upper right corner of the title name).
