MediaTek sees artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI as essential and revolutionary opportunities that will shape the future of technology. The company sees AI’s immense potential to drive innovation and improve efficiency across a wide range of applications. As AI technology continues to evolve, MediaTek aims to lead the way, leveraging its expertise to develop solutions that meet the evolving needs of consumers and industries worldwide.
MediaTek representative shares about AI development trends
"MediaTek is confident in its leadership position in driving the application of generative AI across all areas, from smartphones, Chromebooks, Smart TVs, to automobiles and other complex smart solutions - areas that will be strongly influenced by AI technology in the future," said Finbarr Moynihan, Vice President of Marketing at MediaTek. "In addition, MediaTek is currently focused on cloud data centers. Cloud and data center infrastructure for AI will become important and we see significant opportunities for MediaTek there."
MediaTek’s focus area is generative AI (GenAI), which is expected to drive innovation across multiple markets. MediaTek announced that it is expanding its GenAI ecosystem with support from Baidu and LLama, among other partners, to power on-device GenAI with real-time capabilities such as object removal and image generation.
In the Vietnamese market alone, MediaTek has established a strong presence with nearly 49% market share in the mobile processor sector in the domestic market. This achievement not only reflects MediaTek’s advanced technology but also demonstrates the company’s commitment to building strong local partnerships.
MediaTek is actively collaborating with carriers such as FPT, Viettel and VNPT, building on a long-standing partnership that began with Wi-Fi 4, continued through the current Wi-Fi 5 and recently transitioned to Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7. This partnership aims to provide wider and faster connectivity solutions to Vietnamese users.
MediaTek is also helping to accelerate the deployment of 5G networks in Vietnam. In addition, several carriers are developing their own IoT platforms, and MediaTek will integrate its chipsets into these IoT platforms to enhance their capabilities. In the future, these partnerships will extend beyond telecommunications to include smart home, smart city, and traffic management services.
