The incident occurred on the afternoon of May 21 when the flight carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members took off from Heathrow Airport in London, England, and headed to Singapore.
Due to turbulence, the Boeing 777-300ER was forced to make an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok at 3:45 p.m. (local time).
"We can confirm one person died and more than 30 people were injured on the Boeing 777-300ER," Thai PBS World quoted a statement from Singapore Airlines on May 21.
Singapore Airlines also sent its deepest condolences to the family of the victim.

At the time of the incident and diversion, the Boeing 777-300ER was about 1.5 hours away from Singapore's intended landing airport, Changi.
“Our priority now is to provide all possible assistance to all passengers and crew on board. We are working with the local authorities in Thailand to provide medical assistance and have a team deployed to Bangkok to provide further assistance,” a statement from Singapore Airlines said.
The Malay Mail newspaper cited Aviation Safety Network records as saying that Singapore Airlines has had seven accidents so far. The most recent fatal incident involving Singapore Airlines was in October 2000 when a plane crashed during takeoff in Taiwan, China, killing 83 people.
