Masan High-Tech Materials always prioritizes the application of the newest and most advanced technological solutions for the entire closed production chain, from ore mining to processing, manufacturing and recycling of high-tech materials to move towards green production and sustainable development.

Using energy efficiently, planting trees to reduce emissions The global industry is moving towards green technology, not outside this inevitable trend and for many years now, Masan High-Tech Materials - the world's leading manufacturer of high-tech Tungsten has implemented the principle: "Reduce - Reuse - Recycle" in production to minimize emissions, optimize resources. Currently, Masan High-Tech Materials is focusing on innovation, applying advanced technology in developing highly competitive products, aiming for greener and more efficient production. Masan High-Tech Materials' sustainable commitment is realized from the requirement that factories worldwide must reduce greenhouse gas emissions and implement energy saving. In Vietnam, businesses proactively participate in green energy conversion programs launched by the Government, ministries, departments and branches to reduce energy consumption. In 2023, Masan High-Tech Materials will cooperate with the business community, leading universities and research institutes in the industry under the program: Innovation for the Energy Revolution, sponsored by the German Government. Masan High-Tech Materials is particularly interested in solutions to optimize energy use not only at each factory but also a comprehensive approach, implemented throughout the entire life cycle of materials produced by the enterprise. Also in 2023, Masan High-Tech Materials will conduct greenhouse gas inventories and calculate emissions, and implement an energy saving program with 9 projects exceeding targets. Of which, the mineral exploitation and processing factory in Thai Nguyen province is estimated to reduce more than 14,409 GJ of electricity consumption, equivalent to 973.4 tons of CO2eq. Through environmental rehabilitation programs, the company has planted more than 2,000 trees at waste dumps, with 63.9 hectares restored and greened.

Choosing the latest technology, firmly pursuing "sustainable mining" According to Masan High-Tech Materials, in addition to efforts to reduce carbon emissions, this enterprise has achieved outstanding achievements in waste reduction and recycling. Specifically, the enterprise has classified waste during its operations to recycle into new product lines, with a recycling rate of more than 30% of the total volume of waste generated. In 2023, at Masan High-Tech Materials Vietnam, 7.8 million m³ of wastewater was recycled for production, accounting for 76.1% of the total water used by the enterprise. The waste recycling rate at the Tungsten Deep Processing Plant in Thai Nguyen is more than 80%.

"Masan High-Tech Materials recognizes that mineral resources are not infinite. We always strive to realize the goal of "sustainable mining" by applying the most advanced environmentally friendly technology solutions today to the entire material supply chain and closed production process, from the stage of mining raw ore to the stage of processing, manufacturing and recycling high-tech materials," said Mr. Craig Bradshaw, General Director of Masan High-Tech Materials. Masan High-Tech Materials is constantly researching and developing new applications of tailings and waste streams in different industries to expand recycling capacity with a strong belief and commitment to establishing a circular economy, green and sustainable production. The company has conducted experiments to evaluate the effective exploitation of secondary tungsten supplies in the future, and cooperated in research projects in Brazil to recycle low-grade tungsten tailings and waste streams from the cement industry and other industries.
In 2023, Masan High-Tech Materials will continue to maintain a steadfast governance policy, while promoting restructuring and streamlining operations to optimize resources on the journey of sustainable development. These efforts have been recognized, Masan High-Tech Materials was honored as "Top 100 Sustainable Enterprises in Vietnam" for the 6th consecutive year - an award presented by the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) under the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI); voted as "Top 10 Innovative and Effective Enterprises" by Vietnam Business Research Joint Stock Company (Viet Research) and "Top 50 Outstanding Vietnamese Enterprises in 2023" by Vietnam Report Joint Stock Company.
