In an official statement to the press, a representative of Quang Ninh Power Company (PC Quang Ninh) announced the reason for the decision to temporarily suspend Mr. Nguyen Dai Cuong from the position of director of Ha Long City Power Company.
Accordingly, the reason for the temporary suspension of Mr. Nguyen Dai Cuong is because Mr. Cuong directed the response and recovery work after the storm, which did not meet the requirements of the Northern Power Corporation and Quang Ninh Power Company.
This has significantly affected the restoration of power supply to people in Ha Long city .
According to the representative of PC Quang Ninh, in order to speed up the progress of repairing the power grid in the city as well as unify the direction from the company to the local power company, ensuring power supply for customers, Quang Ninh Power Company has also decided to assign Mr. Dang Thanh, Deputy Director of PC Quang Ninh, to concurrently hold the position of Director of Ha Long City Power Company, replacing Mr. Nguyen Dai Cuong.
Previously, PC Quang Ninh had decided to temporarily suspend Mr. Nguyen Dai Cuong from his position. This decision was implemented from 6:00 p.m. on September 9.
In this decision, Quang Ninh Electricity requested Mr. Nguyen Dai Cuong to be present at Ha Long City Electricity to serve the restoration of the power grid after storm No. 3 and the production and business activities of the electricity company.
According to Ha Long City Electricity Company, there are currently over 110,000 customers in the area. Due to the impact of storm No. 3, all 38/38 medium voltage lines and transformer stations were damaged, over 250 electric poles were broken, causing widespread power outages.
Ha Long City Electricity has mobilized nearly 170 officers and employees and the Northern Power Corporation has added 43 technical staff to restore Ha Long's power grid after the storm.
According to the plan, power will be restored to the entire city of Ha Long on September 10, but as of today, September 11, power has not been restored to all customers.
Power restored to 4.8 million electricity customers
According to EVN, by the morning of September 11, 1,376/1,604 medium-voltage lines affected by the storm had been restored to operation. Power supply had been restored to 4.8 million out of more than 5.9 million customers affected by storm Yagi (equivalent to 81.3%).
Since the night of September 9, continuous heavy rains have caused major floods in several provinces of Yen Bai, Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, and Lao Cai, causing flooding in 15 areas, leading to power outages for over 400,000 customers.
