Over 30 years of construction and development, officers and soldiers of the 293rd Engineer Brigade have always promoted the tradition of "Opening the way to victory", successfully completing combat readiness training tasks, building national defense works..., meeting the requirements of the task of building and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
Complete the mission excellently
On April 8, 1993, the Ministry of National Defense issued Decision No. 143 to establish the 293rd Engineering Regiment, codenamed Thang Long Engineering Group, with the function of specializing in constructing combat works, with the task of constructing defense works in the Cam Ranh area. After 18 years of establishment, the 293rd Engineering Regiment has successfully completed its assigned tasks, contributing significantly to consolidating the defense posture in the area. Faced with the mission requirements and development of the engineering force, on August 15, 2011, the Ministry of National Defense issued Decision No. 2890 on reorganizing the 293rd Engineering Regiment into the 293rd Engineering Brigade, under the Engineering Corps. The brigade has the function and task of training combat readiness, constructing defense works, clearing bombs and mines, participating in flood and storm prevention and control, search and rescue, and is ready to perform other tasks in the Central Highlands - Central region.

Over the past years, the Brigade Party Committee and Party Committees at all levels have thoroughly grasped, strictly and effectively implemented the resolutions of the Central Military Commission, the Party Committee of the Corps, the annual combat training orders of the Engineer Commander on training tasks; issued resolutions on specialized leadership on improving the quality of training. In training, we always adhere to the motto "Basic, practical, solid", actively innovate in organizing training, fostering cadres, competitions, sports, improving the quality of specialized training, focusing on training in techniques, tactics, physical strength, exploitation capacity, mastering weapons and equipment, especially new and modern weapons and equipment; training cadres as the center, focusing on practice. From 2018 to 2022, the unit organized training for 1,250 new soldiers; trained 583 reserve soldiers according to the prescribed program, content and time; Annual inspection results achieved excellent unit, absolute safety.
Promoting the tradition of a good construction unit, the brigade has always excellently completed the task of constructing national defense works; constructing, managing and protecting the CT229 project; many projects exceeded the annual plan targets by 4 to 6%. Particularly from 2018 to 2022, the brigade organized the construction of 13 projects, completed and handed over 11 projects; managed, protected and preserved 4 projects; 2 projects are under construction; 3 projects are about to start construction and 3 projects are preparing to open new ones. Notably, in 2021, the unit completed, accepted and handed over 1 CT229 project, which was assessed by the Ministry of National Defense and the Engineering Command as one of the projects with leading technical, aesthetic and tactical quality in the whole army.
Promote mass mobilization work
In addition to the tasks of combat readiness training, construction of defense works, bomb and mine clearance, etc., the 293rd Engineer Brigade has always focused on promoting mass mobilization work. Over the past 5 years, the brigade has coordinated with local authorities where it is stationed to carry out the task of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, floods and storms with a total of 1,350 machine hours and nearly 500 working days, ensuring efficiency and safety. Typically, in 2017, after storm No. 12, the unit promptly organized forces to help people in Cam Phuoc Dong commune (Cam Ranh city) and Suoi Cat commune (Cam Lam district) build 7 new houses, roof 1 house, and clean up schools in the area. In 2019, the unit helped overcome a landslide of 50m of slope on Provincial Road 9; in 2020, it overcame a landslide of 150m of road in Tra My district, Quang Nam province; In 2022, the unit participated in timely fire fighting of 8 hectares of forest in Kon Tum province. Officers and soldiers of the unit participated in supporting the Fund for the Poor and the Gratitude Fund with nearly 1 billion VND; presented nearly 500 gifts to policy families and families in difficult circumstances with a total amount of nearly 300 million VND. Every year, the unit supports 1-2 students from policy families with especially difficult circumstances in the stationed area, with an amount of 200,000 VND/child/month; built 5 gratitude houses, 2 comrade houses...

Thereby, arousing pride, striving, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, and excellently completing their tasks”.
Over the past 30 years, the 293rd Engineer Brigade has been honored by the Party, the State, and the Ministry of National Defense with 2 First Class Feat Orders, 1 Second Class Feat Order, 1 Second Class Fatherland Protection Order, 2 Third Class Fatherland Protection Orders; 3 times awarded the emulation flag by the Government; 3 construction battalions were awarded the First Class Feat Order. Notably, in 2001, Battalion 27 was awarded the title of "Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces". In 2013, the brigade was awarded the title of "Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces". On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its tradition (April 8, 1993 - April 8, 2023), the brigade was honored to receive the Second Class Fatherland Protection Order. |
