P SEAFOOD PRODUCES SPIRITUAL "WEALTH" FOR FANS
Although this is the first time participating in the World Cup, the Vietnamese women's team still has its own ambitions. Stepping into the world arena, coach Mai Duc Chung affirmed that the whole team will strive to compete to glorify the spirit of Vietnamese women. To achieve this goal, the plan to upgrade the team was proposed in early 2022, right after Huynh Nhu and her teammates won tickets to the World Cup. The players' persistent efforts have begun to bring "sweet fruit".
After a 3-week training trip with encouraging results, notably the match of a lifetime with the German women's team, on June 27, the Vietnamese women's team returned home to continue preparing for the 2023 World Cup. Speaking at the award ceremony for the Vietnamese women's team at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (Hanoi), coach Mai Duc Chung shared that he had encouraged national pride in the hearts of each Vietnamese female player, thanks to which the whole team always entered the field with the highest determination.

Coach Mai Duc Chung said: "I always affirm to my students that the Vietnamese women's team is a descendant of Lac Hong, a descendant of Ba Trung and Ba Trieu. You are Vietnamese women, you must show the spirit of Vietnamese women under the red flag with a yellow star. Salute to the flag is the happiest and most joyful moment. I want the players to understand that when being watched by millions of people, the team must be worthy of that trust and love. The team must produce "spiritual wealth" to encourage and bring joy to the people. In every match, the players need to show the will and spirit of Vietnamese women. I want the players to be able to lose professionally, but not lose in the spirit of solidarity and fighting spirit."
"WHEN THE BALL GOES INTO THE NET IT FEELS VERY SPECIAL"
90 minutes of resilience against the German women's team, the leading candidate for the 2023 World Cup championship, is proof of the remarkable maturity of the Vietnamese women's team to narrow the gap with the World Cup level. Scoring a goal of a lifetime against the German women's team, young striker Thanh Nha still cannot forget the sweet taste of seeing the opponent's net shake on the Berberer Berg field. "Before the match, my teammates and I determined to try to lose as little as possible. But when entering the match, the whole team was determined to fight with all our might for the best result. In the counter-attack, I called Ngan Thi Van Su to ask for the ball, then I just tried to push the ball up. I also observed and then shot. When the ball went into the net, it was a very special feeling, we were very happy to be able to contribute to the achievements of the Vietnamese women's team".
Thanh Nha and teammates returned home on June 27.
At the 2023 World Cup, the Vietnamese women's team will face the US women's team (reigning world champions), the Netherlands (reigning world runners-up) and Portugal. Before entering the tournament, the Vietnamese women's team will play two friendly matches, against Spain (ranked 6th in the world) and host New Zealand (ranked 26th). Playing against high-class teams during the training period will help the Vietnamese women's team improve their skills and abilities.
A VALUABLE SOURCE OF ENCOURAGEMENT
The Vietnamese women's team received a prize worth 1 billion VND in cash and 36 gold bars engraved with their names from the representative of TCP Vietnam Company - Red Bull brand for their record-breaking achievement of 4 consecutive SEA Games championships (8 championships in total), while honoring the persistent efforts of the team and coaching staff in the journey to win tickets to the 2023 World Cup.
VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi shared: "The history of Vietnamese football officially turned a new page when the golden girls of the Vietnamese women's team won tickets to the 2023 World Cup. On the journey to the big sea, we have the opportunity to meet and compete with very strong opponents such as the US, Netherlands and Portugal women's teams. But nothing can be stronger than determination, fighting spirit and dedication to the fans and to the country's football".
