According to the individual financial reports of the first quarter of 2023 of 28 commercial banks, salary and employee allowances mostly increased compared to the same period last year, although the profit growth of many banks decreased compared to the same period.
Techcombank continues to hold the top position in employee benefits, spending nearly VND1,600 billion on salaries and allowances for employees.
Specifically, each employee at the bank receives an average income (salary and allowances) of up to 46.46 million VND/month, equal to the same period in 2022 but an increase of 3.4 million VND compared to the average income in 2022.
In second place is SHB. Mr. Do Quang Hien's bank spent nearly 660 billion VND on expenses for 5,140 employees, equivalent to an average of 40.6 million VND/month per person.

Ranked fourth is the “champion” of profits last quarter - the “giant” Vietcombank. Employees here receive an average income of 38.66 million VND/month.
In the first 3 months of the year, this unit increased salary and allowance spending by 23% for 21,865 employees, bringing the total spending to more than 2,569 billion VND.

BacA Bank, VietBank and BaoViet Bank are the banks with the lowest employee income, at VND17.57 million/person/month, VND17.29 million/person/month and VND15.28 million/person/month, respectively.
ACB continues to rank last in the industry in terms of employee income. The average income of ACB employees in the second quarter of 2023 reached 12.9 million VND/month (an increase of nearly 1 million VND compared to the average in 2022).
In terms of growth, while the income of most bank employees increased, the income of VietCapitalBank employees decreased by more than 6 million VND/month compared to the same period last year.
The average income of this bank's employees in the first quarter of 2023 was only 19.14 million VND/month.
The high income of employees is paid by banks partly due to performance. Based on total profit before tax, many banks record employees bringing home hundreds of millions of dong each month.
Accordingly, employees at SHB bring in 223 million VND/month, the highest in the system. Next are employees at MB bringing in 193 million VND/month, employees at Vietcombank bringing in 168 million VND/month...
The above figures are statistics on average income from salary and allowances. Depending on each position in the bank, there will be different salary and bonus regimes and there is often a large difference because the bank pays salaries based on seniority, target completion level, characteristics between departments in the bank, even between operational activities and the overall performance of each branch .
