On the evening of June 15, Vietnam Television (VTV) reported that at the police station, suspect Y Tho Ayun confessed that he had gone to propagate and incite some people in villages in Dak Lak province to participate in the disturbance of security and order, using guns to attack two commune People's Committee offices in Cu Kuin district.
Earlier, in the early morning of June 11, a group of armed men attacked the headquarters of Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur communes, Cu Kuin district, killing four commune police officers; two commune officers, three civilians and seriously injuring two commune police officers.
As of the evening of June 14, professional units had arrested a total of 46 subjects related to the attack on the headquarters of Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur communes.
Describing the seriousness of the attack, Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security, said that this was an act of insecurity and disorder that was "organized, very reckless, barbaric, and inhumane." This group shot dead the Secretary of Ea Ktur commune, the Chairman of Ea Tieu commune, 4 police officers, 3 residents, and injured several others.
According to Lieutenant General To An Xo, through initial statements, the subjects said they "received instructions that if they encountered cadres and commune police, they would kill them, rob them of their property, guns and ammunition."
