Russia declares Ukrainian soldiers surrender in Kursk
According to Phap Luat Newspaper, on October 15, Major General Apty Alaudinov - Commander of the Akhmat Special Forces from the Chechen Republic of Russia - announced that many members of the elite Ukrainian units tasked with attacking Kursk province (Russia) are surrendering because they are no longer able to fight, RT reported.
Alaudinov also denied that Russia had executed Ukrainian soldiers, saying Kiev was “ creating fake news to prevent its troops from surrendering.” However, despite these efforts, according to Alaudinov, Ukrainian soldiers “often decide to surrender.”
“ The units that Kiev considers the most elite and invulnerable are also gradually beginning to surrender because they want to survive ,” said Mr. Alaudinov.
According to Mr. Alaudinov, Russia is ready to spare even Ukrainian soldiers if they lay down their weapons.
Russia's Defense Ministry said Ukraine lost more than 200 soldiers in Kursk over the past day, bringing Kiev's total losses in the Russian province to more than 23,150 casualties, according to TASS news agency.
According to Russian marines, it is easy to distinguish between Ukrainian soldiers and foreign mercenaries. Ukrainian soldiers are often equipped with Soviet-style weapons and equipment, while mercenaries are equipped with Western-style equipment such as assault rifles, grenade launchers, and use Western-made armored vehicles. Ukraine has not commented on the above information.

Foreign mercenaries in Ukraine face traps
According to Kienthucnet, Georgian mercenaries are currently present in Russia’s Kursk region and the Russian Marines have encountered them. According to a Russian Marine company commander nicknamed “Yakub”, Ukrainian foreign mercenaries mainly operate on the second line.
Mercenaries from the “Georgian Legion” participated in the battles in the Kursk region, mostly fighting on the second line, while the Ukrainians advanced ahead of them. This tactic allowed the mercenaries to locate Russian fire positions, while ensuring their own safety.
The Ukrainian tactic at Kursk was to advance in small detachments, exposing the Russians’ firepower, and then allowing the rear forces to strike. Then the main force (which included many Polish mercenaries, or “Georgian Legions”), would enter the fray.
According to Russian marines, it is easy to distinguish between Ukrainian soldiers and foreign mercenaries. Ukrainian soldiers are often equipped with Soviet-style weapons and equipment, while mercenaries are equipped with Western-style equipment such as assault rifles, grenade launchers and use Western-made armored vehicles.
A commander of a motorized infantry battalion of the Russian 44th Army codenamed "Horizon" told Russian news agency TASS that the unit's radio reconnaissance department intercepted radio calls of the Ukrainian Army and discovered that there were many Polish mercenaries fighting in Kursk.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that Polish mercenaries were fighting very well; according to Dmitry, a refugee who fled the city of Sudzha, a large number of Polish mercenaries had entered Kursk, and it was possible that this was the latest rotation.
In the Kursk region, General Syrsky, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Army, was ordered by President Zelensky to hold the occupied area for a certain period of time, at least until the Sumy defense line was completed, so that the Ukrainian army could not retreat from here.
According to the Telegram channel Rybar and military reporter Yury Kotnok, the 22nd Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Army, which suffered the heaviest losses, lost all combat power and had to withdraw from the Kursk region to reorganize. However, due to the heavy losses of armored vehicles and attacks by Russian UAVs, the Ukrainian commander ordered a retreat on foot to ensure safety.
Ukraine claims to have intercepted Russia's Kinzhal missile
According to Defense Express, Ukrainian media posted a video recording the scene of air defense forces using the Patriot system to intercept a Russian Kinzhal hypersonic missile in Kiev city.
" The Patriot system successfully intercepted the Kinzhal missile. The missile fragments then fell in the three districts of Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Holosiivskyi. The incident damaged several vehicles, the roof of an apartment building and a market, but no casualties were recorded ," the Ukrainian side said.
According to a report by the Kiel Institute of Economics (Germany), although the Patriot system can intercept Russia's Kinzhal missile, this method is very expensive.
In addition, the combat effectiveness of these complexes is not really impressive, when they can only intercept about 30% of air targets. Specifically, the Patriot system in Ukraine shot down 50% of all Kalibr cruise missiles, 22% of Kh-59/69 cruise missiles, 4% of Iskander-M ballistic missiles, 0.6% of S-300/400 air defense missiles when attacking the ground and 0.55% of Kh-22 supersonic missiles.
Russia destroys NATO weapons ship
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have launched a new offensive against the southern Odessa region. The Ukrainian port infrastructure and military airfield, where NATO is transferring weapons to the Ukrainian army. Since the beginning of October, these positions have been attacked by Russia almost daily.
Russian Iskander missiles have attacked the Ukrainian seaport of Odessa.
The Russian attack took place as Ukraine was unloading military cargo from the Moon cargo ship, which was being transported under the Panamanian flag. The cargo included military communications, technical and repair equipment from NATO. As a result of the attacks, the cargo ship and the Coast Guard vessel were severely damaged.
Also on September 14, the cargo ship Shui Spirit was attacked by the Russian military at the port of Chernomorsk.
Earlier, the Russian military also carried out precision strikes on NATO equipment sites south of Odessa. On October 13, Russian missiles hit a Ukrainian military airport near the village of Limanskoe. Ukrainian seaports were also attacked.
On October 7, Russian missiles also attacked the Optima, which was secretly transporting military equipment disguised as grain to the port of Odessa. On October 6, a large fire broke out due to a precise Russian attack on the Peresa.
Russia continues to repel Ukrainian forces in Kursk
According to Dan Tri, the Military Summary channel reported that on the Kursk front, further geo-located videos showed that the Russian Army (RFAF) had recaptured the village of Tolstyi Lug. Footage from north of Lyubimovka also showed that they had once again successfully deployed infantry.
According to Ukrainian information, Moscow forces are said to have taken several positions further south in the Hryhorivka area along the Chasov Yar canal. Footage further south also shows the RFAF crossing the canal.
There are further location videos in Pokrovsk showing Russian troops taking positions further up the Lysivka line. They are also attacking north of Selidove. At the same time, a Ukrainian observer claims that the RFAF is advancing from the south towards Vyshneve, just 1km from the village.
In Katerynivka, Moscow forces also returned to action, launching a large-scale mechanized assault. There, geo-located imagery showed the RFAF presence in the village on the eastern edge.
Readovka channel confirmed that Kiev forces had to say goodbye to their bridgehead in the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region. Thus, the intention to launch a second breakthrough to save the main group of forces was ruined by the rapid counterattack of Moscow forces. Only a few fragments remained at the border edge, in general, things are getting worse for the Ukrainian army (AFU).
One of the influencing factors is the rapid change in weather, autumn has come, which means rain and muddy roads, significantly reducing the mobility of both sides.
Military commentators say the weather is an "ally" on Russia's side as they mainly use vehicles that are less affected by mud than Ukraine's wheeled armored vehicles.
