Six high schools will organize entrance exams for grade 10 from June 1 to 10, including two schools that have the same exam dates.

Every year, six specialized high schools in Hanoi recruit about 2,700 10th grade students, attracting tens of thousands of candidates.

June 1

The Foreign Language Specialized High School, University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, will take the earliest exam. On the morning of June 1, candidates will take three exams including Foreign Language, Math and Natural Science, Literature and Social Science.

For Foreign Language, candidates choose one of the following languages: English, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, or Korean. Except for English, which can be used to enter all 7 specialized classes, the remaining foreign languages are only used for the corresponding specialized class.

The remaining two subjects are tested in 55 minutes each. Literature has both essay and multiple choice sections, while Math is completely multiple choice.

The admission score is the sum of the three exams on a 10-point scale, with Foreign Language multiplied by a factor of two. The school will consider from high to low until the quota is full, from the specialized system with scholarships to the specialized system.

June 2-3

The Social Sciences and Humanities exam will be held on June 2nd, with candidates taking only one specialized exam in the morning. Candidates will take the exam in the subject they register for (Literature, History, Geography). The exam score is calculated on a scale of 10, rounded to two decimal places.

For the entrance exam to the Natural Sciences major , candidates will take two general subjects, Math and Literature (120 minutes each), in the morning and afternoon of June 2, then take the specialized subject exam (150 minutes) the following day. Candidates will take the subject corresponding to the specialized class they registered for (Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology), and IT classes will take Math.

To be considered for admission, candidates must take all subjects and achieve a score of 4 or higher. The admission score is the sum of the general Math score and the specialized subject score multiplied by a factor of two, without adding priority points.
