This is the first opening ceremony of the University of Health Sciences after upgrading from the Faculty of Medicine, Ho Chi Minh City National University to the University of Health Sciences in June this year.
In the opening speech, Professor, Doctor, Physician Dang Van Phuoc, Honorary Rector of the University of Health Sciences, emphasized that the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year is an important event, opening up opportunities for the school to develop to new heights, aiming to become an advanced and prestigious university of health sciences in the region, where medical science, technology, culture, knowledge and medical ethics of the Vietnamese people can converge.
Talking with new students, Professor, Doctor, Physician Dang Van Phuoc shared with new students 3 keywords: Proactive - Connected - Responsible.
Referring to the keyword proactive, Professor, Doctor, Physician Dang Van Phuoc said that entering university will be an open environment, a “test” for students to perfect and develop themselves, requiring them to be truly proactive. Be proactive in everything, proactive in arranging personal life, proactive in studying, proactive in seeking knowledge, proactive in training to form core competencies.

Nowadays, the strong development of science, technology, social networks, and increasingly better information infrastructure has brought many opportunities for students to access and acquire knowledge, but social networks are also gradually losing their connection with life.
“You should step out into the real world more, approach life more to enrich your life and nurture your soul. Only when you “feel” the pain of others, live with love, will you become doctors, medical staff with qualities, ethics and fulfill your mission well,” Professor, Doctor, Physician Dang Van Phuoc advised the new students when talking about the keyword connection.
Choosing the field of health sciences as a preparation for life, Professor, Doctor, Physician Dang Van Phuoc believes that the new students have identified the "responsibility" and "professional ethics" of a doctor, pharmacist, nurse, and medical staff in the future. "Responsibility" is a quality that every person, in every profession, needs to have. For those who directly care for and protect the health and life of people, "responsibility" must be placed first.
According to the 2024 enrollment results, the University of Health Sciences has enrolled 555 new students in five majors: Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Traditional Medicine and Nursing, with an enrollment rate of 100%.
