Car carrying 20 students overturned in Gia Lai, many people injured

On the morning of April 22, the Traffic Police Department of Gia Lai Province Police said that at around 6:30 a.m. the same day, at km 200+700 of National Highway 19, through Thanh Binh village, Binh Giao commune, Chu Prong district (Gia Lai), a school bus overturned, injuring many people.

Accordingly, driver P.D.D. (57 years old, residing in Binh Giao commune) drove a 30-seat car with license plate 81F-001.18 carrying about 20 students from high schools and middle schools in Chu Prong district, traveling from Duc Co district to Pleiku city.

When reaching km 200+700 through Thanh Binh village, the car climbed onto the curb and fell into a house on the side of the road, about 5 meters below the surface of National Highway 19. When it hit the gate pillar of the house, the car stopped upside down.

The car overturned and caused a loud noise, the windows were shattered, many students were bleeding and screaming in fear. Among them, 3 people were injured in the head area, 2 people were injured in the arm and some others were scratched by the broken glass of the car.

Among the injured was driver D., the rest were all students.

After the incident, local people promptly took the victims to medical facilities for emergency treatment. Currently, Hung Vuong Gia Lai Hospital received 14 students and 1 driver, Hoang Anh Gia Lai Hospital received 3 students, Gia Lai Provincial General Hospital received 3 students.

Students involved in the car crash are being treated at the hospital.

The driver is being examined by doctors.

The accident left 3 students with head injuries, 2 with arm injuries, and the rest with abrasions.

Currently, the Traffic Police Department of Gia Lai Province Police is coordinating with Binh Giao Commune Police and related forces to urgently handle the scene and investigate the cause of the accident.
