Lao Cai strives to build "Happy family

“It is right to care about family, because many families together make up a society, good families make a good society, good society makes families even better, the nucleus of society is the family. Therefore, to build socialism, we must pay attention to the nucleus.” Remembering Uncle Ho's teachings, in recent years, all levels, sectors, and localities of Lao Cai have always strived to implement solutions to improve the quality of life and care for family affairs.

Domestic violence is not simply physical violence, but also mental, sexual and economic violence. Violence often causes noisy incidents that are known to many people in the community and residential areas, which makes it easy for reconciliation or handling by local departments, branches and organizations depending on the severity of the incident. However, due to shyness, lack of confidence or inferiority complex, fear of "exposing oneself to others", most victims of domestic violence are women who often suffer silently, only when the incident is discovered and many people know, do they confide in outsiders.

Therefore, the clubs to prevent and combat domestic violence from villages, groups, residential areas to communes, wards and towns, in addition to the task of propaganda and raising awareness of the people, are also a place for victims of domestic violence to come and share their concerns about domestic violence in the locality or right in their own families.

Kim Tan Ward (Lao Cai City) has a model called “Building a home together” that attracts 46 members (23 couples). Since the model started operating, members have improved their knowledge and skills in building happy families, gender equality, and preventing violence, contributing to connecting and harmonizing family relationships, and repelling conflicts and violence.

On February 22, 2024, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 118 to implement Directive No. 06 dated June 24, 2021 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in family building in the new situation, the strategy for developing Vietnamese families to 2030 and family programs in the province. The goal of the plan is to build a prosperous, progressive, happy, civilized family, which is the nucleus and healthy cell of society.

Regarding the model of preventing and combating domestic violence alone, in 2023, the Department of Culture and Sports organized the construction and replication of 15 models of preventing and combating domestic violence in 15 communes in 5 districts, towns and cities with 75 clubs (bringing the total number of models of preventing and combating domestic violence to 127 models with 635 clubs, accounting for more than 80% of communes, wards and towns with clubs). The models have attracted the interest and attention of many households, gradually changing people's awareness in implementing the Law on Prevention and Combating Domestic Violence.

Women's associations at all levels have also actively implemented Project 8 "Achieving gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" under the National Target Program for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas. More than 500 models under the project such as community media groups, trusted addresses, leaders of change... have been established and operated effectively in localities, attracting thousands of participants.

Along with that, to improve the quality of family work, on the occasion of Vietnamese Family Day June 28, the province organized a provincial workshop on "Family work in Lao Cai province in the new situation"; organized a launching ceremony to implement the movement "Exemplary grandparents and parents - filial children and grandchildren"...

The above efforts are the conditions that contribute to creating happy “homes”, families that are always filled with laughter and happiness. There, love is built on the basis of sharing and empathy among family members. The joy multiplied in each family is also the driving force for the country to become more and more prosperous.
