At this location, on July 29, 1974, Division 304 opened fire on the Thuong Duc military sub-region, considered the "steel door" protecting the southwest, the enemy's Da Nang Military Complex.
After 10 days of fierce fighting, on August 7, 1974, Division 304 completely controlled the Thuong Duc military sub-region, destroyed the 79th Ranger Battalion, and leveled the system of fortified strongholds in the southwest of Da Nang.

Among them, the 1062 high point is a symbol of the indomitable will and shining revolutionary heroism of the liberation army soldiers and the army and people of Quang Da. More than 921 officers and soldiers of the liberation army heroically sacrificed their lives and more than 2,000 officers and soldiers were injured in this war.
The victory at Thuong Duc opened National Highway 14, connecting with Truong Son Road, creating conditions for our army to deploy attacks on Da Nang, contributing to the complete liberation of the South, reuniting the country.

In Thanh My town, Nam Giang District Martyrs' Cemetery is the resting place of more than 400 graves of heroic martyrs from all over the country who fought and sacrificed heroically on the battlefield to liberate their homeland Nam Giang and the mountainous districts of Quang Nam.
