At the "sacred site" of the Thuong Duc Victory Monument, Comrade Nguyen Cong Thanh and the delegation, along with local leaders, respectfully commemorated, laid flowers, and offered incense to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who bravely fought and sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and reunification.

At this location, on July 29, 1974, the 304th Division opened fire on the Thuong Duc military sub-district, considered the "steel gate" protecting the southwest of the enemy's Da Nang military complex.

After 10 days of fierce fighting, on August 7, 1974, the 304th Division completely took control of the Thuong Duc military zone, annihilated the 79th Commando Battalion, and leveled the fortified strongholds guarding the southwest of Da Nang .

Among them, Hill 1062 is a symbol of the unwavering will and radiant revolutionary heroism of the liberation army soldiers and the people of Quang Da. More than 921 liberation army officers and soldiers bravely sacrificed their lives, and more than 2,000 officers and soldiers were wounded in this battle.

The victory at Thuong Duc opened up National Highway 14, connecting to the Truong Son Road, creating favorable conditions for our troops to launch attacks on Da Nang, contributing to the complete liberation of the South and reunification of the country.
