Dien Bien province is currently managing over 16,000 files of people with revolutionary contributions, and paying monthly preferential allowances to 1,000 people with revolutionary contributions and their relatives.

Mr. Vu A Bang, Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee said: Under the leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council and the guidance of the Central Government, every year Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee has directed and promptly issued documents instructing departments, branches and localities to coordinate in implementing new preferential policies, adjusting and supplementing preferential allowances according to the provisions of the Ordinance on preferential treatment for people with meritorious services; annually issuing a Plan to implement the work of caring for people with meritorious services, a plan to mobilize the "Repaying gratitude" Fund and organizing activities to celebrate the War Invalids and Martyrs Day; guiding the implementation of preferential policies of the State for people with meritorious services to ensure timeliness and correctness.

Over the years, the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at all levels of Dien Bien province have always paid attention to deploying and effectively implementing movements to care for war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution through many specific, practical, responsible and meaningful activities such as: Movement to contribute to the construction of the "Repaying gratitude" Fund, building gratitude houses, giving savings books; organizing to send people with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs to concentrated nursing care according to the regime; establishing a social protection fund; receiving care for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, lonely and weak parents of martyrs; sponsoring martyrs' children; implementing preferential social policies for children of martyrs, wounded soldiers... Through these movements, conditions have been created for people with meritorious services to strive to overcome difficulties, stabilize their lives, and at the same time create a favorable environment for agencies, organizations and individuals to actively participate in the work of "Repaying gratitude".

Visiting and encouraging policy families is regularly paid attention to by Party committees and local authorities of Dien Bien province.

Besides, Dien Bien has been regularly paying attention to, supporting and helping families of war invalids and martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution who are in especially difficult circumstances, sick, living alone and without support; taking care of the graves of unknown martyrs has been regularly carried out by localities, agencies, units, mass organizations and the people, contributing to improving the spiritual life of people with meritorious services to the revolution.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son - Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs shared: Activities to show gratitude, the movement "All people take care of families of war invalids, martyrs and people with revolutionary contributions", the funds "Repaying gratitude", "Comradely affection" are increasingly developing widely, receiving the sympathy and response of society, becoming a beautiful tradition of the nation.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory, Party and State leaders also visited and encouraged families with meritorious services to the revolution in Dien Bien province.

In the coming time, Dien Bien province will continue to strengthen propaganda and education to raise awareness and responsibility of cadres, party members and people of all walks of life, especially the young generation, towards people with meritorious services and their relatives. Lead and direct functional agencies and authorities at all levels to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on the work of war invalids, martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution; promote the "Repaying gratitude" movement with many practical forms. At the same time, actively mobilize organizations, individuals and businesses to support the "Repaying gratitude" Fund, effectively use funds to support housing for people with meritorious services and policy families; encourage, motivate and create conditions for war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services to actively participate in social activities, develop production and business.

Provincial leaders regularly visit martyrs' cemeteries in the area during important ceremonies of the province and the country.
