Sharing the joy of welcoming Christmas, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy respectfully sent to Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long, Auxiliary Bishop Peter Nguyen Van Vien, priests, religious and Catholics in the whole province warm wishes of peace, happiness, and fullness of God's grace; to welcome the new year 2024 with peace and prosperity.
Sincerely congratulating the good results of Vinh Diocese in 2023, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy expressed his joy to see that Vinh Diocese has made progress in all aspects, especially successfully organizing the First Annual Conference of 2023 of the Vietnam Bishops' Council; inaugurating and putting into use the Pastoral Center.
Under the direction of the Bishop's Office, directly by Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long, the majority of priests, monks and Catholics in the province have promoted the spirit of "Respect God and Love Country", practiced the principle of "Good life, good religion", and contributed significantly to the development of the province. The cooperative relationship between bishops, priests, monks and Catholics with the Party Committee and government in the province has increasingly trusted each other.
On this occasion, informing about the main features of the province's socio-economic development in the year with many outstanding marks, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy thanked the cooperation, companionship and active contributions of priests, religious and Catholic compatriots in the province to the development of the province in recent times.
Joyfully welcoming Christmas 2023, which is also the time to prepare for the new year 2024, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy wishes and respectfully requests that bishops, priests, and monks in their positions of authority will lead and guide Catholics in the province to continue promoting the tradition of patriotism, accompanying the nation; join hands with the people to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; actively participate in local campaigns and emulation movements, contributing to building the homeland and the country.
In particular, in 2024, Nghe An province will focus on implementing Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2045; implementing the Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
At the same time, the province focused on preparing all aspects to carry out a series of major and important tasks such as: Implementing the 2nd phase of administrative boundary merger, including the merger of Cua Lo town and some communes of Nghi Loc district into Vinh city; starting the Cua Lo deep-water port project; preparing conditions for the expansion of Vinh International Airport; building VSIP II, WHA, Hoang Mai II industrial parks, completing roads...
The head of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee hopes that Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long, Auxiliary Bishop Peter Nguyen Van Vien, priests, religious and Catholics in the province will support and accompany the province to ensure progress, quality and effectiveness in implementing these important tasks, creating a breakthrough development for the province.
The Provincial Party Secretary affirmed: The provincial leaders will continue to direct relevant departments, branches and localities to pay close attention to resolving legitimate religious needs responsibly, promptly and in accordance with the law, to create conditions for religious communities in general and Catholics in particular to have the best conditions for religious activities.
At the same time, we always wish to continue to strengthen the building of good relationships, increasingly close ties, and mutual trust between the church and Party committees and authorities at all levels; to serve the people in general and Catholics in particular better and better.
Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long - Bishop of Vinh Diocese expressed his joy to welcome the delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province to visit and wish them a Merry Christmas.
In the context of 2023, the world and domestic situation has many difficulties and challenges, the Bishop of Vinh Diocese happily congratulated the results that Nghe An province achieved in the year with many new advances; and was happy that Catholic compatriots contributed to that development.
Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long also expressed his joy that the relationship between Vietnam and the Vatican this year continued to develop positively and made important progress when the Regulations on the activities of the Permanent Representative and the Office of the Permanent Representative of the Holy See in Vietnam were approved.
In Nghe An, the Bishop of Vinh Diocese is also very excited that the relationship between the government and Vinh Diocese is very good; especially the government has granted land to build the new Cau Ram Church.
Bishop An Phong Nguyen Huu Long emphasized that this is a manifestation of the provincial government's concern and care for the lives of Catholics and affirmed that it will make efforts to build a new Cau Ram church, as well as auxiliary works worthy of Vinh City.
Delighted that the relationship between Vietnam and the Vatican in general, and between Nghe An province and Vinh Diocese in particular, is developing better and better, Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long expressed that, as both a citizen and a leader of Vinh Diocese, the Bishop will strive to build and develop an increasingly better relationship to join hands in building the homeland and the country.
Before the 2023 Christmas celebration of Catholics and welcoming the New Year 2024, Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long wished Nghe An province to have further development steps in the new year.
