Provincial leaders conduct field survey and work with investors of Ilmenite Separation Plant

BTO-On the afternoon of February 20, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Van Dang inspected the Ilmenite - Zircon Refining Plant project in Hoa Thang commune, Bac Binh district of GPM Binh Thuan Company Limited.

Also participating were leaders of relevant departments and localities: Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Science and Technology, Provincial People's Committee Office and Bac Binh District People's Committee.

Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Phan Van Dang conducted a field survey at the Ilmenite - Zircon Refining Factory (Hoa Thang Commune, Bac Binh District).

After a field survey, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of relevant departments and localities had a working session with the investor of the Ilmenite - Zircon Refining Plant project. Here, Mr. Ngo Quang Anh - Deputy General Director of GPM Binh Thuan Company Limited gave a preliminary report on the operation of the Ilmenite - Zircon Refining Plant investment project in Hoa Thang commune, Bac Binh district in the past time.

Accordingly, after transferring the entire factory in 2013, the investor continued to build more workshops, laboratories and invested in some modern machinery to replace old, outdated equipment... Currently, the Ilmenite - Zircon Refining Factory has a capacity of 100,000 tons/year, creating jobs for more than 50 workers with an average income increasing from 7.5 million VND/person/month (2013) to 21.4 million VND (2023).

Leaders of relevant departments and branches and representatives of investors discussed issues related to recommendations to increase the factory's capacity.

On this occasion, leaders of relevant departments, localities and representatives of GPM Binh Thuan Company Limited also discussed the proposal to adjust the investment project with the content of increasing the factory capacity from 100,000 tons to 300,000 tons/year, and increasing the investment capital from 130 billion VND to 250 billion VND from the enterprise's capital. In which, focusing on clarifying a number of issues such as environmental impact assessment, ensuring the source of raw materials and clean water for the refinery, investing in modern equipment lines commensurate with the project's increased capacity...

In his concluding remarks, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Van Dang said that the Ilmenite - Zircon refinery of GPM Binh Thuan Company Limited has invested in quite modern equipment and technology. Recently, the investment project in Hoa Thang commune, Bac Binh district has been put into operation and has brought about efficiency and contributed to creating jobs and increasing income for local workers.

With the increase in the capacity of the factory, the provincial People's Committee leaders agreed to let the investor coordinate with relevant departments and localities to adjust the investment project according to the recommendations and must conduct it strictly, ensuring compliance with legal regulations. Especially pay attention to the issue of preliminary assessment of environmental impact, land procedures, water sources for the factory's operations, etc.
