On June 5, in Hanoi, the 2nd National Congress of the Vietnam Chief Nursing Club, term 2024 - 2029, and the 1st International Nursing Scientific Conference of the Vietnam Chief Nursing Club took place, with the support of Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk).

Speaking at the Congress, Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan - Deputy Minister of Health affirmed that nursing is a noble profession, requiring not only solid professional knowledge but also love, dedication and a high sense of responsibility. The silent but immense contributions of nurses have proven that nursing is not only a profession but also a noble mission, bringing faith and hope to patients and the community.

With the largest nursing force of over 150,000 nurses and midwives, accounting for over half of the total number of civil servants, public employees and workers in the health sector in Vietnam. Managing this nursing force requires a system of nursing managers and leaders with high requirements for professional qualifications, expertise and good management skills.

The Vietnam Chief Nursing Club was established by the Minister of Home Affairs under Decision No. 343/QD-BNV dated April 23, 2019 with the aim of gathering, uniting, protecting the legitimate rights and interests, and supporting the effective activities of members who are working in leadership, management, and nursing training nationwide.

Going through a first term with many difficulties and challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic, complicated natural disasters, strong changes in training, digital transformation, and regulations and policies related to nursing.

However, the Vietnam Chief Nursing Club has overcome difficulties and challenges, actively promoted advantages, and sought the attention and support of all levels, sectors, and units to successfully implement the Resolution of the First Congress.

At the Congress, Deputy Ministers, Leaders of Departments/Offices under the Ministry of Health, Leaders of Health Departments, Leaders of Hospitals, Leaders of Nursing Training Schools paid attention to and created the best conditions for the activities of the Vietnam Chief Nursing Club and the system of chief nurses, and nursing teaching at the unit.

Chairman of the Vietnam Chief Nursing Club, BSCK II Hoang Van Thanh, said that a chief nurse is not only a manager but also a leader, a teacher and a spiritual pillar of the entire nursing team. They play a key role in ensuring the quality of health care services, improving the professional qualifications and ethics of nurses. In the next 5 years, the Vietnamese health sector will continue to organize and implement a series of legal documents to effectively implement the provisions of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment, including the nursing sector.

In that context, the 2nd Congress, term 2024 - 2029, has a very important task. That is to promote democracy and intelligence of the delegates attending to contribute to the draft political report of the Congress; Discuss and objectively and comprehensively evaluate the achieved results, causes and limitations in directing the implementation of the Resolution of the 1st Congress, thereby determining appropriate goals, directions and solutions to meet the legitimate and just needs and aspirations of the members. In addition, the Congress is responsible for selecting exemplary members with political qualities and sufficient capacity to undertake the task of leading and directing the work of the Club for the term 2024 - 2029.

Within the framework of the 2nd National Congress of the Vietnam Chief Nursing Club, the 1st International Nursing Scientific Conference of the Vietnam Chief Nursing Club took place with the theme: Leadership, management and nursing training in the digital transformation period. Vinamilk and a number of other units participated in the 1st International Nursing Scientific Conference.

At the Conference, the Organizing Committee selected more than 20 valuable reports related to: training experience, using head nurses, training specialized nurses at home and abroad in the digital transformation period; Multidisciplinary care, with close coordination between clinical nutrition, infection control and nursing in management and providing comprehensive patient care services according to the direction of the Ministry of Health.

The speakers are nursing professors from nursing schools, hospitals in the US and Australia, and nursing managers and instructors from medical examination and treatment facilities, and nursing schools in Vietnam. Many interesting topics were shared at the conference such as: Nursing leadership and management capacity - Experience in training and using nursing leadership and management resources in some countries in the world and the United States (Prof. Ann Nguyen - San Francisco University - USA); Psychological intervention for patients for psychiatric nurses (Prof. Ronald R. O'Donnell - Arizona University - USA); Multimodal approach in nutritional treatment of inpatients (Dr. Luu Ngan Tam, Cho Ray Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City); The role of nursing in preventing and controlling infections related to central venous catheters (Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Ha - Vice President of the Vietnam Infection Control Association) ...
