(Fatherland) - The 11th Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival of the Northeast Ethnic Groups in 2024 with the theme "Northeast Culture - Identity, Integration and Reaching Out" will be held in Lang Son for 3 days, from November 2 to 4. This is a large-scale event with special significance in terms of politics, culture and tourism for Lang Son province in particular and the Northeast provinces in general. By November 1, the province had completed all preparations for the Festival to take place successfully.
Rich in cultural identity of ethnic groups in the Northeast region
The Northeast Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival is a periodic activity held every 3 years, aiming to honor the unique traditional cultural values of the Northeast ethnic groups in the unified and diverse culture of the community of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups. In 2024, the 11th Festival will take place in Lang Son province, co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Lang Son province. The festival has the participation of 8 provinces: Lang Son, Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Phuc and Thai Nguyen.
Lang Son has completed preparations to ensure the success of the Northeast Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival according to the plan.
This year's festival has some new features, such as traditional rituals related to the life and production of ethnic minorities in the Northeast region will be recreated and performed; the festival is associated with the celebration of the 193rd anniversary of the founding of Lang Son province (November 4, 1831 - November 4, 2024) and the 115th anniversary of the birth of comrade Hoang Van Thu (November 4, 1909 - November 4, 2024).
Carrying out the tasks of the festival host and closely following the direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, since August 2024, the Provincial People's Committee has issued an implementation plan and issued a press release on the organization of the festival; coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize meetings of the steering committee, the organizing committee and held a press conference to announce the festival activities.
Mr. Nguyen Dang An, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Head of the Festival Organizing Committee said: "The festival is an important event for the province, so we have advised the Provincial People's Committee to direct agencies, units, and People's Committees of districts and cities to issue plans depending on their tasks to implement appropriately, ensuring the festival takes place safely, effectively and leaves a deep impression. At the same time, the Department advised the Provincial People's Committee to organize communication and promotion activities about Lang Son Geopark, which has just been recognized as a global geopark, with the goal of contributing to promoting the province's tourism development in the coming time through the event."
Along with the series of special activities of the ceremony and festival, one of the highlights of the Festival is the opening ceremony taking place at 8:00 p.m. on November 2 at the main stage of Hung Vuong Street Square, Lang Son City. To ensure the success of the opening ceremony, the Provincial People's Committee has directed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the provinces to develop a framework for the art program; ensuring that the program will fully and most strongly express the unique cultural characteristics of the ethnic groups in the Northeast region.
People's Artist Nguyen Minh Thong, General Director of the opening and closing ceremonies of the festival, said: "We have completed the script for the opening and closing ceremonies of the festival. In particular, the art performances in the opening program are also the highlight of the festival with the theme "Northeast - Pride and Shine" which we have carefully and elaborately staged with 3 main parts: "Northeast Colors"; "Northeast - Glorious Epic"; "Northeast - Pride and Shine". The opening performance gathered nearly 600 artists, professional actors, extras and artisans from the localities participating in the event".
Lang Son is ready for the Festival
The preparation for the event was directed by the Provincial People's Committee to be carried out carefully and thoroughly in order to organize the Festival successfully, leaving a good impression on the hearts of the ethnic groups in the Northeast region in particular, and on friends and tourists coming to Lang Son on this occasion in general. Accordingly, from October 20, the decoration, renovation, construction of the stage, and the area for organizing the Festival's activities (Chi Lang Park area, Hung Vuong Street, the Provincial Cultural - Art Center, the Provincial Museum...) were carried out to ensure the schedule.
The Department of Health of Lang Son province has directed local medical units to closely inspect and supervise food safety at the catering facilities for delegates during the Festival.
At the same time, the work of propagating and promoting the event and preparing for activities within the framework of the Festival was also urgently carried out. Specialized agencies actively carried out many activities such as: building banners and slogans for visual propaganda in the area; mobile propaganda and propaganda on the grassroots loudspeaker system with a frequency of 2 times/day on over 1,000 loudspeaker clusters in communes, wards and towns...
Lang Son City is where most of the activities of the Festival take place, so the preparation is of special concern. Ms. Hoang Minh Thao, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, said: After receiving the direction plan from the Provincial People's Committee on organizing the Festival of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Ethnic Groups in the Northeast, the City People's Committee proactively developed a plan, in which it assigned relevant departments, agencies, units, People's Committees of wards and communes to actively coordinate in implementing the activities of the Festival and send forces to participate in the opening and closing programs of the Festival.
Regarding the tasks of ensuring security and order, food safety and hygiene, ensuring a green, clean and beautiful environment, the assigned agencies and units and the People's Committee of Lang Son city pay special attention to ensuring that no unexpected situations occur.
To ensure accommodation facilities and provide adequate food and beverage services to meet the needs of tourists, on this occasion, businesses, tourist accommodation establishments, restaurants, hotels, etc. in the city have also proactively planned to welcome guests thoughtfully.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Dieu Thuy, representative of an accommodation facility in Lang Son City, said: Currently, 100% of the hotel rooms have been booked by visitors during the Festival: "We are ready to prepare the facilities and human resources to welcome delegates and visitors to the Festival in the most complete way. Regarding the accommodation, the unit has arranged rooms that meet the standards, and regarding the food service, the entire kitchen unit has been assigned to select foods that are typical local dishes, with clear origins and from the processing stage to the serving stage, all must meet the criteria to ensure food safety and hygiene."
To ensure security, order and traffic safety for the Festival's activities, Lang Son City Police also implemented traffic diversion, ensuring safety and convenience for residents and visitors.
In addition, to maintain security, order and traffic safety for the Festival, Lang Son City Police will increase the use of flycams in the city to proactively prevent, detect and stop violations of the law; promptly handle traffic congestion situations.
In addition to ensuring security and order, traffic safety, ensuring food hygiene and safety is also of special concern to Lang Son province. The Department of Health of Lang Son province has directed medical units in the area to be on duty 100%, organize inspections and closely monitor the work of ensuring food safety and hygiene; take food samples at dining establishments in the area...
On November 1, Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 11th Northeast Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival, and members of the Organizing Committee inspected the preparations for the opening ceremony and activities within the framework of the Festival.
At the inspection, delegates were reported on the preparation of conditions for the Festival. Members of the Organizing Committee also discussed a number of issues related to food safety and hygiene, environmental sanitation, ensuring safety in the seating areas of the people; fire prevention and fighting, security and order at accommodation facilities, tourism services... Accordingly, up to now, the Logistics Reception Subcommittee; Health and Security Subcommittee have deployed and completed the preparation of conditions according to the plan to ensure the success of the Festival./.
