Attending the award ceremony were alternate member of the Party Central Committee - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet; Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Vo Xuan Ca; Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department Nguyen Thi Thu Lan and Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu - Head of the award organizing committee, along with leaders of departments, branches, localities, many authors, groups of authors and members of the Quang Nam Journalists Association.

The 18th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award (2023 - 2024) has 236 works/172 authors, groups of authors from many press agencies nationwide and non-professional journalists participating.
Through the selection process, the Organizing Committee of the 18th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award decided to award 60 prizes to 60 authors and groups of authors with a total prize money of 453 million VND.
Journalist Le Van Nhi - Editor-in-Chief of Quang Nam Newspaper, Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association, Head of the Jury, said that the Huynh Thuc Khang Press Award is an important press event of Quang Nam to recognize and honor the creative labor achievements of press agencies and journalism teams over a year of accompanying the land and people of Quang Nam.
This is also an opportunity to identify and sketch the whole picture with outstanding highlights in the overall picture of all aspects of Quang Nam social life through the lens of journalists.
According to Mr. Le Van Nhi, in 2023 and the first months of 2024, due to the adverse impact of the world situation and the country's general difficulties, along with some long-term consequences from the shortcomings and limitations of many previous years, Quang Nam's development has slowed down somewhat, and the locality has to face more difficulties and challenges than advantages.
However, besides that, there have been many outstanding events that have oriented, suggested, affirmed, communicated, and spread social inspiration about the potential, resilience, and breakthrough development of Quang Nam in the new period.
Especially activities to arouse the will, determination, spirit of overcoming difficulties, and creativity of the people of Quang Nam. All of these are approached, exploited, and reflected diversely and convincingly through the lens of writers and photographers.
Search and spread positive values
The organizers of the award commented that the most impressive and surprising point of the 18th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award is the gathering of many journalistic works with strong humanistic values, with the aim of spreading positive inspiration and beautiful lifestyles in the community.
“Responding to the policy of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee on promoting the traditional cultural values of the land and people of Quang Nam, journalists have focused on finding, discovering, and spreading positive values from the traditional cultural sources, history, mettle, willpower, and determination of the Quang people.
At the same time, focus on introducing and promoting the potential, strengths and development orientations of Quang Nam from the Provincial Planning that has just been approved by the Prime Minister" - Mr. Le Van Nhi said.
The organizing committee commented that the entries were equal in quantity across all types of journalism, diverse in subject matter, genre and form of expression. Along with that, the quality of journalism products continued to improve.
The trends of analytical journalism, big data journalism, solution journalism, leadership journalism, and technology journalism are clearly demonstrated through many entries. The team of journalists has constantly studied and improved their skills to keep up with the trend of multimedia, multi-format, and multi-platform communication.
Attending and speaking at the award ceremony, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu warmly congratulated generations of journalists on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day; commended the authors and groups of authors who won the 18th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award.
“Journalists have constantly innovated and created, promoting the development of the provincial press industry and contributing to the progress of society. In the coming time, Quang Nam province hopes to continue to receive the companionship and support of journalists and journalists to encourage Quang Nam to overcome difficulties and challenges, continue to realize the plan, and develop quickly and sustainably,” Mr. Ho Quang Buu shared.
On this occasion, the organizing committee awarded 7 thematic prizes; launched the 19th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award (2024 - 2025). The Vietnam Journalists Association awarded the "For the Cause of Vietnamese Journalism" Medal to 4 outstanding members.
- In the print category, the work "Listener... A-lic" by author Le Trung Viet (Nong Thon Viet Magazine) won first prize in the category of journalistic reports; the 3-part series: "Land clearance for Thaco Chu Lai Industrial Park project: Difficult obstacles to overcome" by the group of authors Thanh Minh - Huu Phuc (Quang Nam Newspaper) won first prize in the categories of articles reflecting, reporting, editorial, quick notes, interviews, investigations, investigative reports, commentary, special articles, editorials.
- In the category of visual journalism, the work “Quang Rivers” by the group of authors Ngo Xuan Loc - Nguyen Thanh Binh - Phan Van Hien (Quang Nam Radio and Television Station) won first prize in the category of long reports and documentaries; the work “Running to the Sea” by the group of authors Do Vinh - Le Huy (VTV8) won first prize in the category of news, short reports, and online discussions.
- In the category of spoken press, the first prize belongs to the work "Falling in love with Hoi An" by the group of authors Nguyen Long Phi - Nguyen Thu Hoa - Nguyen Hang Nga (Central Regional Office - Voice of Vietnam)
- Electronic newspaper category, First prize is the work Emagazine "Mother of the Forest" by the group of authors Ho Tran Minh Quan - Nguyen Manh Thanh Cong (Quang Nam Newspaper)
- In the press photo category, the first prize went to the work "Hoi An - UNESCO Creative City" by author Dang Thanh Hoa (Vietnam Pictorial - Vietnam News Agency).
