Binh Phuoc Playing with flowers on Tet holiday is an indispensable need of the people, with gentle fragrance and pure beauty, wild Ngoc Diem orchid is chosen by many people.
In the context of the 2023 economy being considered quite difficult, consumers are tightening their purse strings, making the 2024 Tet flower market in most localities quite gloomy, but in the border district of Bu Dop, remote Binh Phuoc province, thanks to creative business, wild Ngoc Diem orchids have brought in tens of millions of VND/day in revenue for Mr. Nguyen Hung's family.

These days, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - owner of Ngoc Diem forest orchid farm in Thien Hung commune, Bu Dop border district (Binh Phuoc) is busy packing beautiful orchid pots that have been pre-selected by customers to deliver on time. He cannot hide his joy when he sells hundreds of pots every day, up to now, in less than a month, more than 5,000 pots have been almost sold out.
Visiting the nearly 2,000m2 orchid garden of Mr. Hung's family, with only a few pots left, we were truly satisfied to see that even though they were the remaining orchid pots, they were still full of flowers and gave off a fragrant scent. Mr. Hung did not hesitate to reveal that in recent years, orchids have been "rivals" of peach, apricot, kumquat... in the Vietnamese people's hobby of playing with flowers during Tet. Although there are many types of orchids, from industrial to hybrid species... hunting for wild orchids to play Tet has become a trend, of which the wild Ngoc Diem orchid is the most popular and is considered the queen of orchids.

“Thanks to absorbing enough “sun, wind, cold, rain” of the “great mountain forest” weather, the wild Ngoc Diem orchid is very strong, the leaves are big, the roots are long and thick, it has a strong vitality, especially Ngoc Diem orchid flowers last a long time and have a cool fragrance, and bloom right on Tet holiday”, Mr. Hung shared.
According to Mr. Hung, the value of this orchid is indisputable. However, grasping consumer tastes, many people have invested in this business, making the market very competitive.

To have a unique direction, realizing that Ngoc Diem is a single-stem orchid, it prefers a well-ventilated substrate, can withstand moisture but cannot withstand waterlogging, so the best way to grow it is to graft the tree onto wood, leaving the roots exposed is best. In the past, Bu Dop was a forest land, now the old forests have been replaced by production forests but there are still many rare tree roots, to increase the attractiveness of the orchid, thanks to his talent for carving, from inanimate tree roots, Mr. Hung has collected and shaped them into quite unique, eye-catching, affordable orchid substrates, only a few hundred thousand Dong for a unique but equally luxurious substrate.
At the same time, admitting that he was born later than others in the orchid business, besides direct sales, thanks to his "eloquence", Mr. Hung also took advantage of social networks to sell online. Without hesitation, he opened his personal Facebook page where he had just organized a Livestream, we were overwhelmed by the dense number of comments and orders, with more than 400 orders at the time the Livestream was successfully closed.

“Now is the time before Tet, orchid lovers quickly buy Ngoc Diem orchids to enjoy Tet flowers. Today Ngoc Diem orchids are sprouting flower buds, so importing Ngoc Diem orchids to sell or to enjoy Tet flowers is very suitable. Ngoc Diem orchids are single-stemmed, large plants, with large, thick leaves that are very beautiful, especially the flowers are very fragrant and bloom during Tet, so many people like this type of orchid, it is worth for you to collect and enjoy flowers, because this is a genuine wild orchid, when closing the order, we immediately press the card with a QR code with instructions on care techniques, so that you can conveniently take care of it, we guarantee to exchange or return if the goods do not meet your requirements, everyone…”, Mr. Hung Livestream.
According to scientists, the scientific name of the orchid is Rhynchostylis gigantean. In Vietnam, there are currently 3 main names for this orchid species. The South calls it Ngoc Diem, the North calls it Dai Chau, and the Central calls it Nghinh Xuan. This is a species of orchid that is quite commonly distributed in our country. The orchid is quite easy to grow and adapts to all climate conditions in Vietnam. The orchid can be said to be the orchid of the traditional Tet holiday. Usually, from the time the flower buds appear until they bloom is about 3 months. The plant blooms early or late depending on the climate near Tet. Therefore, if you want the flowers to bloom on Tet, you need to watch the time to restrain or stimulate the plant.

“Mr. Nguyen Van Hung's wild orchid garden is not only beautiful and unique but also has profound humanistic significance. This is the first large-scale wild orchid growing model to appear in the locality. This model has created a living space for people close to nature. In particular, the model has high economic efficiency, suitable for families with little land for production. We are continuing to monitor and move towards replicating the model,” Mr. Nguyen Sy Quoc - Chairman of Thien Hung Commune People's Committee assessed.
