First time organizing pomelo culinary festival in Vinh Long

On April 5, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province announced that the province will organize Thanh Tra Festival, performing a Vietnamese record of 135 dishes made from Thanh Tra fruit.

The festival will open on the morning of April 12, in Dong Thanh commune, Binh Minh town, Vinh Long province. There will be an exhibition space introducing the specialty fruit of pomelo and a contest of 135 culinary dishes made from pomelo.

In particular, the festival also has attractive activities such as: 25 booths displaying and introducing pomelo products for people and tourists to enjoy for free; rural market space selling pomelos; displaying OCOP products, sweet potatoes, Binh Minh tofu; culinary contest...

Thanh Tra is a fruit, the size of a chicken egg, when ripe it has a bright yellow color, a light aroma, a sweet and sour taste, cool. This type of plant has been grown by people in Binh Minh town, Vinh Long province for a long time and has become a typical local crop.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh, Vice Chairwoman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee, said that the festival aims to honor and introduce the value of pomelos, a specialty of Binh Minh town, to the people and tourists. Thereby, contributing to enhancing the position of pomelos on the Vietnamese culinary map; creating opportunities for exchange and connection between growers, traders and consumers; contributing to promoting tourism development associated with local agricultural products.
