On November 14, the Department of Transport said it was investigating the case of a taxi accused of “ripping off” tourists.
Previously, a female Thai tourist complained on social media about booking a car with a freelance driver (not through the app).
The two parties agreed that the driver would pick up guests at the hotel and take them to visit Linh Ung Pagoda, Ba Na Hills (Da Nang) and Hoi An (Quang Nam).
The agreed price was 1.5 million VND, but at the end of the trip, the driver asked the tourist to pay 3.8 million VND (about 5,000 Thai baht), which is 2.5 times higher than the agreed price.
Receiving information on social networks from the Da Nang Grab Drivers Association, the Department of Transport "intervened" to verify the car reported with license plate 43A-309...
Through database search, the vehicle owner is Mr. TAT. This driver is a member of the Cung Kinh Doanh Cooperative.
Faced with signs of violations of business and conditions for passenger transport business under contract, the Department of Transport has requested to immediately revoke the contract vehicle badge issued by the Department of Transport and submit it to the Department of Transport Management, Vehicles and Drivers.
At the same time, car with license plate 43A-309... was temporarily suspended from operation until the authorities clarify the violations.
