Meeting Quoc when he had just returned from a business trip to Ho Chi Minh City, the impression of this young director was a bright, energetic smile. “I just put Hue One Food pressed rice cake on live broadcast with TikToker 4.4 million followers. I am happy not only because I sold the product but also because I spread the message of Hue specialties to millions of people,” Quoc said.

For a long time, Quoc has cherished the idea of starting a business with his hometown's products, with the desire to bring Hue specialties further afield. In 2021, Quoc started with Hue pressed cakes on the sidewalk, a popular snack, sold a lot in the coastal area of Thuan An where Quoc was born.
Starting small but with great aspirations, the "ambitious" Gen Z guy had to turn pressed cakes into a famous specialty, known to everyone across the country. "Like pia cake, a specialty product of Soc Trang, now sold globally, I always have a strong belief that Hue One Food pressed cakes can do it," Quoc said.
Recalling the first days of starting a business, he recalled: “The difficulty in the early days of starting a business was… not knowing how to start. But with the entrepreneurial spirit of a young person, not being afraid, just going and you will get there… I researched the product, invested in equipment for the technological line, remade the packaging and brand.”
“Fire tests gold”, although the initial quality was quite good and well received by many people, the problem that Quoc had at that time was the short preservation time, which affected the quality. “Because no preservatives are used, the cake is delicious when eaten immediately, but if left for a long time, it will smell like oil. I started researching a new process to produce an even better product,” Quoc shared.
Once successful, he did not stop at good product quality but also determined to bring a difference in the pressed cake packages. On each cake packaging, this young man printed interesting stories about the culture and cuisine of Hue people.
From sidewalk cakes, Quoc's Hue One Food brand has been sold at large shopping centers, supermarkets, train stations, airports nationwide... Hue One Food has created jobs for more than 70 people.
During his entrepreneurial journey, the “father” of Hue One Food pressed rice cake has also “harvested” many remarkable achievements: first prize at the Thua Thien-Hue province’s innovative startup competition in 2021, typical innovative startup enterprise in the North Central and Central Coast regions in 2024. But what makes him more proud is that through Hue pressed rice cake products, he has conveyed millions of messages about Hue culture and cuisine to everyone.
In the future, the young director aims to build a 2,000 m² factory in Thua Thien-Hue to create jobs for 200-300 local workers. Further, he plans to build a rice paper factory in the US and China, bringing Hue rice paper products to the world.
