On the afternoon of October 29, the high tide of the 15th day of the 9th lunar month, at a level exceeding alarm level 3, flooded many low-lying areas, riverside areas, and even some central areas of Ho Chi Minh City.
Recorded at 5:00 p.m. the same day, in Nguyen Thai Binh ward (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), many areas were flooded, the most serious being the Nguyen Cong Tru - Calmette intersection and the Nguyen Thai Binh - Calmette intersection.
The water was 20-30cm deep, flooding the entire road, disrupting traffic in the area. Employees of the Urban Drainage Company had to be on duty to open the drainage manholes.

Similarly, in District 7 and Nha Be District, many roads were also deeply flooded, causing many vehicles to stall.
According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, water levels at stations downstream of the Saigon - Dong Nai River rose rapidly following the high tide. On October 29 alone, the highest peak tide level measured at Phu An station (Saigon River) reached 1.65m, and at Nha Be station (Dong Dien River) reached 1.69m.
It is forecasted that tomorrow (October 30) there may be a peak tide of 1.7m.
A series of cars died and had to be pushed.
