Ngo Lan Huong has strong chess skills, having defeated strong Chinese players. She married a Singaporean, completed her naturalization and competed for her husband's homeland.

At the 32nd SEA Games, the Vietnamese women's chess team was missing Nguyen Hoang Yen, who won all 3 gold medals in standard chess, rapid chess, and blitz chess at the 2023 National Championship and also won the training tournament before the 32nd SEA Games. Meanwhile, the 2 selected players, Le Thi Kim Loan and Dam Thi Thuy Dung, did not play well. In the men's individual standard chess event, Lai Ly Huynh still affirmed his talent with a gold medal.
In weightlifting, athlete Lai Gia Thanh easily defended his gold medal in the men's 55 kg category when competing against opponents from Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, and Cambodia. Unfortunately for Gia Thanh in the clean and jerk event, he made a mistake in the first push, then tried to break the record but failed. In cycling, cyclist Nguyen Thi That excellently won the gold medal in the women's mass start event, avenging the loss to Jutatip (Thailand) in the previous scoring event.
Yesterday, Vietnamese sports also achieved positive results in Olympic events when boxing brought home 2 gold medals thanks to Ha Thi Linh (63 kg for women), Bui Phuoc Tung (71 kg for men); judo brought home 2 gold medals thanks to Ta Duc Huy and Nguyen Cuong Thinh. Aerobics (3 gold medals), diving (5 gold medals), traditional rowing (1 gold medal) helped Vietnam win a total of 16 gold medals, continuing to lead the overall ranking.
