Production Link
Duy Oanh Green Agriculture Cooperative (Duy Son commune, Duy Xuyen) cooperates with local farmers to produce brown rice, green beans, red beans, black beans, black sesame, lotus seeds, etc. on 7 hectares of land.
When farmers cooperate in organic agricultural production, the products are purchased by Duy Oanh Green Agriculture Cooperative at a price higher than the market price to be used as raw materials for processing clean nutritious cereals.
Up to now, two types of goods, Duy Oanh brown rice and seaweed bars; Duy Oanh cereal powder, have been certified by the Provincial People's Committee as 4-star OCOP with good quality and are well received by the market. Each year, Duy Oanh Cooperative supplies more than 3 tons of various cereals, with a revenue of more than 1.5 billion VND.
Implementing Resolution 17 dated December 17, 2019 of the Provincial People's Council on policies to encourage the development of cooperation and association in the production and consumption of agricultural products in Quang Nam, by the end of 2023, the whole province had 81 approved association projects. The association projects have attracted 80 cooperatives and 73 enterprises to participate in the chain with the participation of 17,261 households implementing projects focusing on the fields of cultivation, forestry and livestock.
Ms. Pham Thi Duy My - Director of Duy Oanh Green Agriculture Cooperative said that currently, Duy Oanh cereal powder brand has 11 main products, including nutritious cereals and nuts. The cooperative is a clean agricultural production link to create quality goods, affirming local strengths, harmonizing profits with farmers.
In Binh Dao commune (Thang Binh), Truong Giang Startup Cooperative Group renovated 32.8 hectares of wasteland in the area, connected with Hanoi Agricultural Seed Company, Minh Tam Quang Nam Agricultural Development Company to buy seeds and then linked with local farmers to produce organic ST24 and ST25 rice, then purchased and processed them into quality goods to supply to the market. The cooperative group also linked with farmers to grow organic lotus on 17.8 hectares and purchased, processed and supplied to the market.
Up to now, three products of Truong Giang clean rice, Truong Giang clean lotus seeds, and Truong Giang lotus scented tea have been well received by consumers inside and outside the province, bringing in good revenue for the cooperative and farmers.
Mr. Le Ngoc Trung - Chairman of Quang Nam Cooperative Alliance said that value chains have great significance for the collective economy. With the current trend of sustainable economic development, green economy, and circular economy, collective economic forms have affirmed their role, especially in creating and sustainably developing linked value chains.
The linked chains contribute to the formation of many concentrated production areas and large raw material areas, which are the basis for applying scientific and technological advances, improving the quality and output of goods, and meeting the requirements of demanding markets.
Development boost
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vu - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in 2023, the linkage between production and consumption of agricultural products has been focused on by sectors and localities and achieved positive results.
Production linkage has brought about practical results, helping to raise people's awareness from traditional production to market-oriented commodity production.
The association has increased income for the participants; scientific and technological advances have been applied synchronously on a large scale, overcoming fragmentation and small-scale situations.
Organizing production linkages also contributes to building, consolidating and developing cooperatives, encouraging and attracting businesses to invest in agriculture, especially key industries.
According to Mr. Vu, in the coming time, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to promote propaganda and guidance on supporting the linkage of production and consumption of agricultural products in the province.
The agricultural sector organizes study tours to learn from effective linkage models and projects inside and outside the province, seeks partners, and calls for investment in production cooperation.
The functional sector coordinates with departments and branches to advise the Provincial People's Committee to resolve problems regarding the level of support for machinery, equipment, and construction of infrastructure works to serve the connection.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu said that in order to promote sustainable development of product value chains, in the coming time, Quang Nam will review and perfect mechanisms and policies, remove difficulties and obstacles, and promote sustainable development of product value chains.
Improve the quality of human resources to serve the development of collective economy and cooperatives; consolidate and build more concentrated raw material areas. The Provincial People's Committee requests that cooperatives and enterprises, as bridges and leading entities in the linkage chain, improve their management and operation capacity, organize linkage activities in a public and transparent manner, and properly and fully implement the rights and obligations of the participating parties.
