This is a special art event, offering the opportunity to experience a famous and globally loved musical masterpiece right on the Vietnamese stage.
"La Traviata" literally means "the corrupted woman", is a classic opera by Guiseppe Verdi, based on the novel "La Dame aux Camelias" by Alexandre Dumas (son). The play tells the story of Violetta, a 19th-century French courtesan who faces tragedy and injustice in her life. From a young girl fleeing from her abusive family, Violetta enters the lavish life of a courtesan, only to find true love and freedom.

In the musical, Violetta's pure love for Alfredo, a young poet, gives her new hope. However, the harshness of society and prejudice forces her to sacrifice her personal happiness, making the story a touching tragedy.
Major General, People's Artist Nguyen Cong Bay, Director of the Ho Guom Theater, and Meritorious Artist Phan Manh Duc, Director of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet, will serve as artistic directors for the project. International director Beverly Blankenship and her daughter Rebecca Blankenship will take on the role of director, promising to bring the audience a new and sophisticated version of "La Traviata".
The main cast includes Artists To Loan and Lan Nhung as Violetta, Truong Linh and Thanh Binh as Alfredo, and Meritorious Artist Huy Duc as Giorgio Germont. The cast also includes more than 60 singers, dancers and actors, along with more than 60 musicians from the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet, VNOB Belcanto Choir and Hanoi Voices International Choir.

Director Beverly Blankenship shared: "We have been diligently preparing for the show for many weeks, from designing the stage, choosing costumes, practicing movements, coordinating music to training the singers. We hope to bring to the Vietnamese audience an emotional and impressive La Traviata."
The first performance of "La Traviata" in Vietnam marks an important milestone in the development of the Ho Guom Theater, as well as in bringing opera closer to the Vietnamese public. This is not only an opportunity for the audience to enjoy a classic masterpiece, but also an opportunity for Vietnamese artists to demonstrate their talent and passion on the big stage.
