NDO - In the joyful atmosphere of celebrating Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, Hanoi National University of Education held the 2024 Han Nom Academic Award Ceremony named after Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Nguyen Ngoc San.
This is a meaningful activity to honor the Professor's contributions to the research and teaching of Han Nom, and at the same time encourage the younger generation to continue this valuable tradition.
Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Nguyen Ngoc San is a linguist and leading expert in the field of Han Nom studies. His research achievements are not only of scientific significance but also of great practical value, contributing to enriching the treasure of human knowledge.
Professor Nguyen Ngoc San was awarded the noble State Prize in 2012 for his contributions to the research and preservation of Vietnamese culture, especially the ancient Han Nom language.
Han Nom is not only a field of study for those who love ancient culture. It is also an important bridge between the past and the present, helping us better understand national identity and orient the future. Researching and developing Han Nom is an important task, not only for researchers but also for the whole society.

With the aim of encouraging and honoring young talents in the field of Han Nom research, the Nguyen Ngoc San Award is organized annually by Professor Nguyen Ngoc San's family in coordination with the Faculty of Philology, Hanoi National University of Education for graduate students, master's students and university students who have successfully defended their theses, dissertations, and won high prizes for scientific topics specializing in Han Nom.
The award is drawn from the Professor's family fund. Thereby, it contributes to preserving and promoting the value of the Chinese cultural treasure, an indispensable part of Vietnam's cultural heritage.
At the 2024 award ceremony, representatives of Hanoi National University of Education and the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Philology, the Board of Directors of the Han Nom Department, and lawyer Nguyen Do Tung Cuong (Chairman of the Vietnam Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Association; Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam-Austria Friendship Association) - the son and representative of Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Nguyen Ngoc San, presented 15 awards for successfully defended and highly scored theses and dissertations in Han Nom to one doctoral student, four graduate students and 10 undergraduate students.
