According to the Vietnamese Embassy in the US, recently, Vietnamese representative agencies abroad, including the US, have continued to receive complaints from many citizens and people of Vietnamese origin about some individuals and groups using different phone numbers, including cases of using technology to display fake phone numbers of the Embassy/Consulate General, impersonating Embassy/Consulate General officials to request citizens to coordinate in handling personal problems and incidents.

These groups often inform about citizens sending prohibited goods to Vietnam and need cooperation to resolve them; urgent documents needing to be received from the Embassy/Consulate General; application files for documents at the Embassy/Consulate General are having problems; personal information and phone numbers are being used by others or there are issues related to cases requiring cooperation in investigation...

In addition, these groups also send copies of official documents, summonses from the police, prosecutor's office, court or connect to Zalo, Facetime for citizens to talk to people in military uniforms, police uniforms, customs, prosecutor's office...

These are all acts of impersonation for the purpose of fraud that have been warned many times by the press and relevant agencies of Vietnam and other countries.

In case of doubt, citizens are requested to absolutely not provide any personal information and proactively contact the Embassy/Consulate General and competent authorities for verification.
