At the question-and-answer session, delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Duong province, questioned Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan about the arrangement and relocation of residents to limit damage from natural disasters.
"In the resolution of the question and answer session at the 6th session, the 15th National Assembly assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to arrange, relocate and relocate residents in areas at high risk of flash floods, landslides, riverbank and coastal erosion or areas severely affected by natural disasters, ensuring safety in accordance with economic conditions, customs, culture and livelihoods for the people. I would like to request the Minister to inform us about the progress of this work, the results, difficulties and obstacles, and the next solutions and roadmap to minimize damage to people and property caused by natural disasters," delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga questioned.
Responding to questions, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said that nearly 27,000 households in vulnerable areas, areas of natural disasters, landslides, subsidence, river banks, seas, and mountainous areas have been resolved but the needs are still very large. Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to work with localities to synthesize the needs and have fiscal packages to meet these needs.
Minister Le Minh Hoan pointed out the current situation of some resettlement areas being arranged but people do not want to move out because the resettlement areas do not ensure their livelihoods and are not suitable for them. Therefore, Minister Le Minh Hoan said that arranging resettlement areas helps protect people from natural disasters, but when implementing the upcoming resettlement project, it is necessary to survey, investigate, and interview to understand the needs of the people. Resettlement areas are not just places to live but must also ensure livelihoods, be suitable for the customs and lifestyle of the people to be effective.
