The workshop was chaired by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong; Deputy Head of the Office of the President Phan Thi Kim Oanh; Prof. Dr. Le Van Loi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Tru, Chairman of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association; Director of the Presidential Palace Relic Site Le Thi Phuong.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh left our country and our people a priceless cultural heritage - the Relic Site of Him at the Presidential Palace. This is where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked for the last 15 years of his life (1954 - 1969). In his capacity as Party Chairman and President, he and the Central Party Politburo set out strategic guidelines and policies for the cause of national liberation and national construction.

After Uncle Ho passed away on September 2, 1969, the historical relic complex of President Ho Chi Minh was formed in the Presidential Palace area, with special value and significance. Through many historical changes and fierce wars, the heritage of Uncle Ho's residence and workplace at the Presidential Palace has always been safely and carefully protected. On August 12, 2009, the relic site was ranked as a special national site by the Prime Minister for the first time.

According to the Deputy Minister, attracting a large number of domestic and international visitors, relics, documents and artifacts are always under pressure from the climate and human environment. These are the difficulties and challenges to preserve, maintain and promote Uncle Ho's heritage.

However, over the past 55 years, generations of cadres of the Relic Site have not been afraid of difficulties, performing well the tasks of scientific research, preservation, and best preserving the residence and workplace of President Ho Chi Minh at the Presidential Palace. Open to visitors 365 days a year, to date, the Relic Site has served nearly 90 million visitors, is a great school for all generations of Vietnamese people, a place where the affection of the people in the country and international friends converge.

Speaking at the workshop, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace Le Thi Phuong said that immediately after President Ho Chi Minh passed away, the Politburo issued a decision to protect, preserve and keep intact the place where he lived and worked at the Presidential Palace so that this sacred area could become a historical relic site about President Ho Chi Minh. This place has become a sacred "red address", where Uncle Ho lives forever with us. All relics, documents and artifacts of President Ho Chi Minh are currently being preserved intact as when he lived and worked.

At the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Tru, Chairman of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, shared that the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace is a sacred temple, a place where the example of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style converges and spreads; working at the Relic Site is a great honor for every officer and employee of the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace.

Associate Professor, Dr. Do Van Tru said that the Workshop is an opportunity for the Relic Site to summarize and comprehensively and specifically evaluate all aspects of its activities over the past 55 years, thereby affirming its advantages, finding out the causes and drawing lessons, improving the quality and effectiveness of protecting and promoting the value of the Relic Site in the coming time.

"It is necessary to review and specifically evaluate the current status of the Relic Site compared to the Relic Site Profile that was built before, right after President Ho Chi Minh passed away; from there, we can see what is still preserved intact as before, what has been changed and to what extent; clarify the reasons for the changes...", Associate Professor, Dr. Do Van Tru stated.

Recognizing the value of Ho Chi Minh's heritage in the Relic Site, Prof. Dr. Le Van Loi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, emphasized that the Relic Site not only marks the years when Uncle Ho lived and worked, but also through the activities and preserved relics, it reflects his ideology and style.
